Therefore, get rid of all moral fifth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. - James 1:21 그러므로 모든 더러운 것과 넘치는 악을 내버리고 너희 영혼을 능히 구원할 바 마음에 심어진 말씀을 온유함으로 받으라(약 1:21). At the mission conference that I mentioned yesterday, we were able to hand out almost 20,000 booklets and CD/DVDs to Christians from China. At times there were long lines of people waiting for materials. I had not seen anything like that before; spiritual hunger was obviously present. 어제 언급했던 그 선교 컨퍼런스에서 우리는 중국에서 온 그리스도인들에게 거의 2만 여 소책자들과 CD/DVD를 나누어 줄 수 있었습니다. 때때로 자료를 구하려고 기다리는 사람들이 장사진을 쳤습니다. 이런 일을 저는 전에는 본 적이 없었습니다. 영적인 갈급함이 분명 확연하게 눈에 보였습니다.Afterward I wondered why we do not see this more often. Maybe we have forgotten the apostle Peter's advice to be "like newborn babies," who "crave pure spiritual milk"(1 peter 2:2). Maybe we think that because we have heard it before, we know it already. But that would be a big mistake. We can't do what the Word of God says, though, if we don't read from it, here it preached, and learn what it means for our lives. Hebrews 4:12 says, "The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit--- it judges the thoughts and attitudes of that heart." God's Word can make us really uncomfortable at times. Like a mirror, it can show us clearly who we are. But we need that. Have you read the Bible today? What have you learned about God and about yourself?야고보서는 우리에게 "너희 --- 마음에 심어진 말씀을 온유함으로 받으라"고 권하고 "말씀을 행하는 자가 되라"고 권하고 있습니다. 만일 우리가 말씀을 읽지도, 설교되는 말씀을 듣지도, 우리 생활에 무슨 의미가 있는지를 배우지도 않는다면 하나님의 말씀이 말하고 있는 바를 행할 수 없습니다. 히브리서 4:12은 "하나님의 밀씀은 살아있고 활력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 판단하나니"라고 말합니다. 하나님의 말씀이 때때로 우리를 불편하게 할 수 있습니다. 거울처럼 말씀은 현재 우리가 어떤 모습의 사람인지를 명확하게 비춰줍니다. 우리에게는 그것이 필요합니다. 여러분 오늘 말씀을 읽었습니까? 하나님에 대해서와 자신에 대해서 무엇을 배웠습니까?  PRAYER (기도)Father, thank you for giving us your Word. "--- but  each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed." - James 1:14"--- 오직 각 사람이 시험을 받는 것은 자기 욕심에 끌려 미혹됨이니" (약 1:14) A good friend of mine is a skillful fisherman. He has told me many times that the reason why I am not good at fishing is because I lack the patience.저의 친한 벗 한 사람은 솜씨 좋은 낚시꾼입니다. 그는 제가 낚시질을 잘 못하는 이유는 제게 인내심이 부족하기 때문이라고 수 차례 말했습니다.He said that when the flesh sees the live bait, the fish will not bite on it the first time. Instead, it will hit the bait lightly to see if there is any reaction or danger. If I pull the pole immediately, I will get nothing. But if the fish sees that nothing happens, it will think that the bait is safe to bite. That's when I should pull the pole.그의 말에 따르면, 물고기가 살아있는 미끼를 보았을 때 그 물고기가 그 미끼를 처음부터 덥석 물지 않는다고 합니다. 먼저 어떤 반응이 있는지, 위험이 있는지 알아보기 위해 미끼를 가볍게 친다는 것입니다. 만일 내가 낚싯대를 즉시 잡아당기면, 아무것도 못잡게 됩니다. 그러나 만일 그 물고기가 아무 일도 일어나지 않는 것을 보게 되면, 물고기는 그 미끼를 삼켜도 안전하다고 생각할 것입니다. 바로 그 때 낚싯대를 당겨야 한다는 것입니다.  Temptations are like that too. They look so harmless at first. Don't believe it when people say that using drugs occasionally will not become an addiction, or that you can always get out of an extramarital affair if you want. James says that if we allow ourselves to be "dragged away and enticed," then our "desire --- gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." By the time we realize there is something wrong, it is already too late.유혹 역시 그와 같습니다. 유혹 역시 처음에는 전혀 무해한 것처럼 보입니다. 사람들이 복용해도 꼭 중독되지는 않는다거나 만일 원한다면 혼외정사에서 언제든 빠져 나올 수 있다고 말할 때 그 말을 믿지 마십시오. 야고보는 만일 우리가 "끌려 미혹되도록" 자기를 내어주게 되면, 그 때 우리의 "욕심이 --- 죄를 낳고, 죄가 장성한즉 사망을 낳는다"고 말합니다. 뭔가 잘못되었다고 우리가 느끼는 순간에는 이미 너무 늦었습니다.   Paul told Timothy to "flee --- evil desires." Run away from them, just as Joseph ran away from Potiphar's wife when she tried to seduce him(Genesis 39). Don't even look back; don't give Satan a chance. Deep down we all know the areas in which we are most prone to fall into temptation. Take Paul's advice and stay far away from them.  바울은 디모데에게 "악한 욕심을 피하라"고 말했습니다. 보디발의 아내가 요셉을 유혹하려고 시도했을 때 요셉이 그 여자를 피해 도망했듯이(창 39장), 악한 정욕으로부터 피하십시오. 뒤돌아보기조차 마십시오. 사탄에게 기회를 주지 마십시오.  우리 모두는 우리가 유혹에 빠지기 쉬운 가장 약한 부분들이 어딘지를 잘 알고 있습니다. 바울의 충고를 받아들여 그런 약점을 피하십시오.PRAYER (기도)Father, forgive us for falling into temptations so easily. When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. -James 1:6오직 믿음으로 구하고 조금도 의심하지 말라 의심하는 자는 마치 바람에 밀려 요동하는 바다 물결 같으니 (약 1:6)As a child I often played a game with friends in which one player would be trying to find someone or something. The rest of us would try to guide the "seeker" by saying how "warm" or "cold" they were getting. The closer they got to the target, the "warmer" they would be; but when they started to stray in the wrong direction, we'd warn them that they were getting "colder." 어릴 때 나는 한 명이 누군가 혹은 무엇인가를 찾아나가는 놀이를 친구들과 자주 했습니다. 우리 나머지는 어떻게 "따스함"이나 "차가움"을 얻게 되는지를 말해줌으로 "찾는 아이"(seeker)를 안내하려고 애씁니다. 그들이 목표물에 더 가까와짐에 따라 그들은 "더 따뜻해"(warmer)집니다. 그러나 잘못된 방향에서 방황하기 시작하면 우리는 그들이 "더 차가워"(colder)지고 있다고 경고합니다.Sometimes we try to play that game with God. We pray for guidance, but what we really want is God's support for something we already have in mind. When it seems God is helping us toward our desired outcome, we cheer him on: "Warmer --- warmer!" We're not really asking God to guide us; we're asking God to let us guide him. Instead of looking to serve God, we're really trying to get him to serve us.안내해 주시기를 기도할 때 그러한 기도들은 단순히 퇴행하는 것입니다. 우리는 진정으로 하나님께 우리를 안내해 주시라고 구하는 것이 아닙니다. 우리는 우리가 하나님을 안내하도록 하라고 하나님께 구하는 것입니다. 우리는 하나님을 섬기려 하기보다는 실제로는 하나님께서 우리를 섬기게 하려고 애쓰는 것입니다.James warns against this role reversal. When we ask for God's guidance, we must have his goals in mind, not ours. And we must ask and believe that God will answer. If any of you lacks wisdom --- ask God --- and it will be given. ㅡ James 1:5 너희 중에 누구든지 지혜가 부족하거든 --- 하나님께 구하라 그리하면 주시리라 (약 1:5)In this passage, James moves easily from the conviction of "not lacking anything" to the admission that we all may lack wisdom. Yes, unfortunately we all take turns when it comes to demonstrating foolishness. 이 단락에서 야고보는 "조금도 부족함이 없을 것"에 대해 확신하면서도 곧바로 우리 모두에게 지혜가 부족할 수 있다고 인정합니다. 그렇습니다. 불행하게도 우리 모두는 차레대로 어리석음을 드러내는 일을 합니다.But James considers lack of wisdom to be a treatable condition! If we need wisdom, we should ask the Source of all wisdom for his generous provision. That requires humility. We are most likely to be wrong when we are most convinced we are right. Recognizing  our need for wisdom is a gift of grace.그러나 야고보는 지혜의 결핍이 치유될 수 있다고 생각합니다! 만일 지혜가 필요하면, 모든 지혜의 원천이신 하나님에게 후하게 공급해 주시기를 구해야 합니다. 그 간구에는 겸손이 요구됩니다. 인간이 틀림없다고 여길때는 틀렸을 가능성이 높습니다. 우리에게 지혜가 필요함을 깨닫는 것이 은혜의 선물입니다.  We often ask for wisdom in the same trouble areas of our life over and over again. It's as through we can't remember the wisdom we received just yesterday. A blind spot stays blank or a persistent stumbling block keeps putting us flat on our faces. Praying for wisdom in dealing with persistent temptation is likely a petition we will offer again and again. 흔히 우리는 생활하면서 힘들고 곤란한 영역에서 똑같이 반복적으로 지헤를 구합니다. 마치 어제 막 받았던 그 지혜를 기억조차 못하는 사람처럼 말입니다. 맹점은 메워지지 않고 항상 뚫려있고, 거치는 돌은 게속해서 걸려 넘어지게 만듭니다. 계속되는 시험을 이겨낼 수 있는 지헤를 달라는 기도는 마치 계속해서 청원을 제출하는 꼴입니다.   We might expect that the Lord will eventually lose patience with us. After all, we often lose patience with ourselves. But James reassures us that God doesn't become impatient. Nor does he say what others may be heard to mutter: "Why don't you ever learn? You are too foolish to bother with." Instead, God offers wisdom again and again - in the face of our foolishness. Are you asking for wisdom and receiving it generously? Thank God!  마침내 주님께서 우리에 대한 인내심을 잃어버리실 것이라고 우리쪽에서 예상할만 합니다. 그래서 결국 우리 편에서 종종 인내심을 잃습니다. 그러나 야고보는 하나님이 짜증을 내지 않으신다고 다짐해줍니다. "어째서 배우지를 못하는거야? 신경을 써주기에는 너무나 어리석어"라고 중얼거리는 것을 다른 사람들이 들을 수 있도록 말씀하지도 않으십니다. 오히려 하나님은 우리의 어리석음을 대하시면서도 거듭해서 지혜를 제공해 주십니다. 당신은 지헤를 간구하고 후하게 받아 누리고 있습니까? 하나님에게 감사드리십시오! PRAYER (기도)Lord, we ask you to be generous with us in our need for wisdom. Refresh us with your wisdom, again and again - and help us grow closer to you each day. ---You know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. (James 1:3)--- 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라 (약 1:3) Trials and temptations both have a similar impact on our lives. But they are significantly different. Trials arise from the challenges and crises of life. Temptations mainly arise from within our hearts, from our inner motivations. 시련과 시험은 둘 다 우리 삶에 비슷한 영향을 끼칩니다. 그러나 그 둘은 아주 다른 것입니다. 시련은 삶의 도전과 위기에서 비롯됩니다. 시험(유혹)은 주로 우리 마음 속에서부터, 우리의 내적인 동기에서부터 비롯됩니다. Trials are as numerous and varied as the people we meet and the places we visit. James's readers were suffering persecution that could potentially undermine their trust in the powerful providence of God. 시련은 우리가 만나는 사람들만큼이나, 우리가 방문하는 장소만큼이나 많고 다양합니다. 야고보의 편지를 받은 독자들은 하나님의 강력한 섭리에 대한 그들의 신뢰를 무너뜨릴 수 있을만한 고통스런 박해에 직면해 있습니다.Temptations are like fishing lures to a hungry fish. The desires of our sinful human nature prompt us to do what we want, which often means rebelling against our Creator, seeking satisfaction apart from him.시험(유혹)은 마치 배고픈 물고기를 유혹하는 낚시 밥과 같습니다. 우리의 죄악인 인간 본성의 욕구들은 우리에게 원하는 것을 하라고 우리를 부추깁니다. 그것은 종종 우리의 창조주를 거역하고 반역하며 하나님을 떠나 만족을 추구하라는 의미입니다.  Both trials and temptations can erode our trust in the Lord and undermine our witness. But God triumphs over the impact of trials and gives us victory over temptations. The Lord leads us in pastures of plenty and beside quiet waters of contentment.시련과 시험은 둘 다 주님에게 대한 우리의 신뢰를 좀 먹을 수 있으며 우리의 믿음의 증거를 침해할 수 있습니다. 그러나 하나님은 시련의 영향을 극복하고 승리하시며 우리에게 시험에 대한 승리를 주십니다. 주님은 우리를 풍부한 푸른 초장으로 인도하시며 만족을 주는 잔잔한 물가로 인도하십니다.  God uses the real experiences of life to demonstrate his peace and power so that he is shown to be the Giver of "every good and perfect gift"(James 1:17).하나님은 자신의 평안과 권능을 드러내기 위해서 인생의 생생한 경험을 사용하셔서 하나님이 "온갖 좋은 은사와 온전한 선물"을 주시는 분이심을 보여주십니다(약 1:17).  We praise our God for giving us trust in times of trial and resistance in times of temptation. God is able to satisfy all our needs through his great provision.우리는 시련의 때에 신뢰를, 시험의 때에는 저항을 제공해 주시는 우리 하나님을 찬양합니다. 하나님은 후히 공급하심을 통해 우리의 모든 필요를 만족시켜주실 수 있습니다. PRAYER (기도)Good Shepherd, lead me according to your will today. May I trust you with all my being and find strength to resist temptations. I want to glorify you in all my ways. Amen.선한 목자이신 주님, 오늘 당신의 뜻을 따라 저를 인도해 주시옵소서. 제가 저의 온 존재를 다하여 주님을 신뢰하고 유혹에 저항할 수 있는 힘을 발견하게 해 주시옵소서. 저의 모든 길에서 주님을 영화롭게 하기를 원하나이다. 아멘. 

The women living there said: "Naomi has a son." - Ruth 4:17그의 이웃 여인들이 --- "나오미에게 아들이 태어났다" 하더라 (룻 4:17)Isn't it strange? Ruth was pregnant and gave birth, but the women exclaimed that Naomi had a son. Actually, this is the point of the story: not only did Ruth fill Naomi's emptiness with enough food, but she also provided a son to replace the ones Naomi lost. 이상하지 않습니까? 룻이 임신하여 아이를 낳았습니다. 그러나 여인들은 나오미가 아들을 가졌다고 탄성을 합니다. 사실상, 이것이 이야기의 요점입니다. 룻은 충분한 음식으로 나오미의 공허함을 채웠을 뿐 아니라, 나오미가 잃었던 이들을 대신할 아들을 주었습니다. Isn't it strange that although Ruth did all of this, the women praised God and responded in the way they did to Naomi? Actually, that's another point of the story. Although he is seldom mentioned, God gets credit for bringing food back to Bethlehem. And in a departure from the normal way of reporting conception, God is reported as making it happen: "The Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son."   룻이 이 모든 일을 하였음에도, 여인들은 하나님을 찬양하며 나오미에게 했던 방식대로 반응했습니다. 사실상, 그것이 이 이야기의 요점입니다. 비록 하나님은 드물게 언급되지만, 하나님께서 베들레헴에 음식이 있도록 하신 장본인이십니다. 잉태를 알리는 일반적 방식과는 동떨어지게, 그 일이 일어나게 하신 분은 하나님이라 알려집니다. "주께서 그녀로 잉태하게 하사, 그녀는 아들을 낳게 되었습니다."Of course, Ruth and Boaz themselves had a hand in restoring Naomi's well-being; it could not have happened without them. Even so, a few well placed phrases remind God's people that there are no fields of ripened grain and no children without the Lord's blessing. God blesses the fruit of our labor and the fruit of the womb. 물론, 나오미의 복지를 회복하는데 룻과 보아스의 역할이 있었습니다. 그들이 없었다면 그 일은 일어나지 않았을 것입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님의 백성들은 멸 구절의 적절한 문구를 기억하게 됩니다. 주께서 복 주지 않으셨다면, 곡식 무르익은 밭도, 자식도 없습니다. 하나님은 우리 노력의 열매와 태의 열매에 복 주십니다.Years later, Jesus, a descendant of this family, was born in Bethlehem with heaven's blessing. Through the story of Ruth we can see that Christ's birth is part of a family history that depends on God's abundant blessings. In God's world it is normal for him to fill the empty and redeem what was lost. 여러 해 후, 이 가계의 후손이신 예수님께서 하늘의 복으로 베들레헴에서 태어나셨습니다. 룻의 이야기를 통하여 우리는 그리스도의 탄생은 하나님의 풍성한 복에 의존한 한 가정의 역사의 부분임을 볼 수 있습니다. 하나님의 세상에서, 하나님이 공허한 자들을 채우시고, 잃은 자들을 찾으시는 일이 일반적입니다.PRAYER (기도)"Praise be to the Lord." The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer." - Ruth 4:14 -여인들이 나오미에게 이르되 "찬송할지로다 여호와께서 오늘 네게 기업 무를 자가 없게 하지 아니하셨도다." (룻 4:14)In every clan in Israel the head of the family was considered the guardian-redeemer, responsible for the well-being of the family. This person was expected to rescue, ransom, buy back, recover, or redeem anyone or any property that was in danger of being removed from the family by poverty, war, or death (Leviticus 25:25-55).이스라엘의 모든 가문에서 가족의 우두머리는 기업 무를 자로 여겨져 가족의 행복을 책임졌습니다. 이 사람은 가난, 전쟁 또는 죽음으로 인해 가족으로부터 분리될 위험이 있는 사람이나, 재산을 구해주거나, 속량하거나, 구제하거나, 되 사주거나, 회복해 주거나, 구속해 줄 것으로 기대되는 사람입니다(레 25:25-55).Boaz became the guardian-redeemer for Naomi's family, and he was needed to fix two problems: a parcel of land had to be bought back (redeemed) , and Ruth needed a husband. Boaz had to do some clever bargaining to redeem the land and marry Ruth, but he was successful, and the story of Ruth ended happily. Ruth gave birth to a grandson for Naomi to preserve her family name. What's more, these people became ancestors of Israel's great King David - and of an even greater king, the King of the world, Jesus Christ.    보아스는 나오미의 가족을 위한 기업무를 자가 되었고, 이제 두가지 문제를 해결해야 했습니다. 즉 토지를 다시 사 주어야 했고, 룻은 남편이 필요했습니다. 보아스는 땅을 상환하고 룻과 결혼하기 위해 영리한 거래를 해야 했습니다. 결국 그는 성공했으며 룻의 이야기는 행복하게 끝이 납니다. 룻은 시어머니 가문의 이름을 보존하기 위해 나오미의 손자를 낳았습니다. 게다가 이 사람들은 이스라엘의 위대한 왕 다윗과 심지어 더 위대한 왕인 세상의 왕, 예수 그리스도의 조상이 되었습니다.   God, of course, is the real guardian-redeemer in the story. "May you --- be famous in Bethlehem --- through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman ---" - Ruth 4:11-12"네가 --- 베들레헴에서 유명하게 하시기를 원하며, 여호와께서 이 젊은 여자로 말미암아 네게 상속자를 주사" (룻 4:11-12) The story of Ruth is one of the Bible's great love stories. It overflows with kindness and compassion. It also highlights how God's people experience his sovereignty and tender mercy as he works through the lives of his people. 룻기는 성경에 나오는 위대한 사랑 이야기 중의 하나입니다. 친절과 긍휼이 넘쳐납니다. 하나님께서 백성들의 삶 속에서 일하실 때, 하나님의 주권과 친절한 자비를 경험하게 되는 법을 강조합니다.As Ruth had shown kindness to Naomi her mother-in-law, (Ruth 1:16-17), so Boaz, a close relative of Naomi, showed kindness to Ruth. Boaz's kindness is not only personal but also flows from the kindness of God as he acts to provide Ruth and Naomi a home because they are his relatives (Ruth 2:20). Boaz acts as the guardian - redeemer for Ruth and Naomi, and the people of Bethlehem bless Boaz by saying, "May you --- be famous in Bethlehem." 룻이 자신의 시어머니 나오미에게 친절을 베푼 것처럼(룻 1:16-17) 나오미의 가까운 친척인 보아스도 룻에게 친절을 보입니다. 보아스의 친절은 개인적인 성향에서 비롯된 것이며 동시에 친척이라는 이유로 룻과 나오미에게 가정을 제공하기 위해 일할 때 하나님의 친절에서 나오는 것입니다(룻 2:20). 보아스는 룻과 나오미에게 후견인 - 구원자의 역할을 감당하였으며, 베들레헴 사람들은 보아스에게, "네가 --- 베들레헴에서 유명하게 하시기를 원하며"라고 말하며 축복합니다.  We might never have given Bethlehem a second thought if not for the fact that Ruth and Boaz, with their son Obed, became ancestors of David there (Matthew 1:5). And many years later, Jesus, a descendant of David, was also born in Bethlehem.만일 룻과 보아스가 그곳에서 오벳을 낳아 다윗의 선조가 되지 않았더라면, 베들레헴을 거들떠 보지도 않았을지도 모릅니다(마 1:5). 수년이 지난 후에 다위의 자손 예수께서 베들레헴에서 태어나셨습니다. Jesus saves us from our sin through his birth as the Son of God and through his death on the cross. Why? Love. In fact, it's the greatest love story ever! "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"(John 3:16).예수님은 하나님의 아들로 태어나 십자가의 죽음을 통해 죄로부터 우리를 구원하십니다. 왜 그렇게 하셨을까요? 사랑 때문입니다. 사실, 이보다 더한 위대한 사랑 이야기는 없습니다! "Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite --- as my wife ---" -Ruth 4:9-10 "내가 엘리멜렉과 기룐과 말론에게 있던 모든 것을 나오미의 손에서 산 일에 너희가 오늘 증인이 되었고 또 말론의 아내 모압 여인 룻을 사서 나의 아내로 맞이하고"(룻 4:9-10) Like the good Samaritan in Jesus' parable, Boaz goes out of his way to help. At Bethlehem's gate, where legal decisions are made, Boaz lets the closer relative know of Naomi's situation. The man is ready to do what is right. But when Boaz points out that Ruth is part of the package, the closer relative steps back; he does not want to endanger  his own estate. He knows that if Ruth has only one son by him, then that son, as his only heir, will inherit his property, but another family name will be on the deed. 예수님 비유의 선한 사마리아인처럼, 보아스는 돕기 위해 일부러 나갑니다. 법적 결정을 내리는 베들레헴 성문에서, 보아스는 더 가까운 친족에게 나오미의 상황을 알게 합니다. 그 사람은 바른 일을 행한 준비가 되어 있습니다. 그러나 룻도 그 일의 한 부분임을 보아스가 말하자, 더 가까운 친족인 그는 뒤로 물러섭니다. 그는 자신의 재산에 손해되는 일을 하고 싶지는 않았습니다. 만약 룻이 한 아들만을 낳게 된다면, 유일한 상속자인 그 아들은 그의 모든 재산을 상속 받게 될 것입니다. 다른 가족의 이름이 상속의 권리를 갖게 될 것입니다.    Boaz doesn't bat an eye. The elders and people at the gate witness Boaz's costly kindness. This good Israelite will keep his oath, even when it hurts: he will father a child for Mahlon in order to secure his property and name. Thus Boaz risks his own property and name. What generous humility; what a citizen of the kingdom of God.  보아스는 태연하게 있지 않았습니다. 성문의 장로들과 백성들이 보아스의 희생적 친절의 증인이 됩니다. 자신이 피해를 입을지라도, 이 선한 이스라엘인은 맹세를 지킬 것입니다. 그는 자신의 재산과 이름을 지키기 위하여 말론의 아이의 아버지가 될 것입니다. 그리하여 보아스는 자기 자신의 재산과 이름을 겁니다. 이는 참으로 관대한 겸손이었습니다. 이 얼마나 하나님 나라의 시민답습니까.  The good Israelite Jesus, born in Bethlehem, did not consider equality with God something to hold on to. So outside Jerusalem, in the presence of all the people and elders, he humbled himself and paid the highest price to fill the emptiness of all who yearn for a Redeemer. "Therefore God --- gave him the name that is above every name --- to the glory of God the father" (Philippians 2:9-11).베들레헴에서 태어난, 선한 이스라엘인 예수님은 자신을 하나님과 동일하게 여기지 않으셨습니다. 그래서 온 백성과 장로들이 보는데서, 예루살렘 성문 밖에서 자신을 낮추어 구속자를 고대하던 모든 이들의 공허함을 채우기 위하여 가장 큰 값을 지불하셨습니다. "이러므로 하나님이 --- 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 --- 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하셨느니라(빌 2:9-11)." Prayer (기도)Father God, may we confidently entrust our name and all our property to Jesus Christ, in whose name we have all that we need forever. "Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed." - Ruth 3:17"빈 손으로 네 시어머니에게 가지 말라." (룻 3:17)Naomi and her family had left Bethlehem because of famine, and she returned years later at the beginning of a harvest. Through Ruth, God  had begun to alleviate Naomi's food problems with regular visits to Boaz's fields, but Naomi was still bereft of her husband and sons. Who would fill that emptiness?나오미와 그 가족은 기근 때문에 베들레헴을 떠났습니다. 그리고 몇 년이 지난 후 추수 시작 때 귀향하였습니다. 룻을 통하여, 하나님은 보아스 밭을 정기적으로 찾아오심으로 나오미의 식량문제를 해결하기 시작하였습니다. 그러나 나오미는 여전히 남편과 자식이 없는 채로 남게 되었습니다. 누가 그 공허함을 채울 것입니까? When Ruth returned from the threshing floor, she poured out six measures of barley, telling Naomi that Boaz had said, "Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed." Naomi was ecstatic, because she recognized that with this food Boaz had put a down payment on her family's future. 룻이 타작마당에서 돌아왔을 때, 그녀는 보리 여섯 되를 쏟아부으며 나오미에게 이렇게 말했습니다. 보아스가 말하길, "빈 손으로 네 시어머니에게 돌아가지 마라." 이 식물로 보아스가 나오미 가족의 미래에 대한 보증금으로 이 곡식을 보낸 것이라 생각하고서, 나오미는 황홀경에 빠졌습니다."Silver or gold I do not have," said the apostle Peter. "But what I do have I give you." And in Jesus' name he told a lame man to walk, and the man was able to walk-and to jump and to praise God too(Acts 3:6-10). In a similar way, Naomi was given renewed life. Ruth would bear a son. Naomi would have a family to take care of her - and through that family Israel would receive a king who would bring an end to the emptiness of the time of the judges.사도 베드로가 말했습니다. "은과 금은 내게 없거니와, 내게 있는 것으로 네게 주노니." 그는 예수님의 이름으로 절름발이에게 걸으라 명하였고, 그는 걷고 뛰며 하나님께 찬미할 수 있었습니다(행 3:6-10). 비슷한 방법으로, 나오미는 새 삶을 얻었습니다. 나오미는 자신을 돌보아 줄 가족을 얻게 되었습니다. 그 가계를 통하여 이스라엘은 사사시대의 공허함을 끝낼 왕을 얻게 되었습니다.  We too have received a down payment: "You were marked in [Christ] with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory"(Ephesians 1:13-14). 우리 역시 보증금을 받았습니다. "그 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀 곧 너희의 구원의 복음을 듣고 그 안에서 또한 믿어 약속의 성령으로 인치심을 받았으니, 이는 우리 기업의 보증이 되사 그 얻으신 것을 속량하시고 그의 영광을 찬송하게 하려 하심이라(엡 1:13-14)."Prayer (기도)Help us, Lord, to live faithfully by your Spirit's guidance as we look forward to the time when our redemption will be complete. "As surely as the Lord lives, I will do it."  - Ruth 3:13 - "여호와께서 살아계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 기업 무를 자의 책임을 네게 이행하리라." (룻 3:13)The word redeem means "to buy back." For Boaz this meant using his money to buy back a relative's land, and having a child with Ruth to preserve the family name of that relative. 리딤(redeem)이란 단어는 "다시 산다"는 뜻입니다. 보아스에게 이것은 친척의 땅을 다시 사기 위해 자신의 돈을 사용하며, 그 친척의 가계를 이어가기 위해 룻에게서 아이를 낳는다는 뜻입니다. Like Ruth, Boaz is a person of noble character. As Ruth clung to Naomi out of respect for her mother-in-law and for the Lord, Boaz clung to the Word of God, recognizing that all honor and praise belong to the Lord. Like one who meditates on the Word of God, he was "like a tree planted by streams of water" (Psalm 1:3). Well-rooted and -watered, that tree would not wither. From what we have seen of Boaz, we note that his words and deeds are so well-rooted and -watered that by the time Ruth speaks to him at the threshing floor, he will become the redeemer Naomi and Ruth need.      룻과 같이, 보아스는 존귀한 성품의 소유자입니다. 룻이 시어머니와 주께 대한 존경심에서 나오미를 따랐듯이, 모든 존귀와 찬양이 주께 속하였음을 인식하며, 보아스는 하나님의 말씀을 붙들었습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 묵상하는 자처럼, 그는 "시냇가에 심기운 나무"와 같았습니다(시 1:3). 뿌리를 잘 내리고 물을 잘 준 나무는 시들지 않습니다. 보아스에게서 본 사실로부터, 그의 언행이 뿌리를 잘 내리고 물을 잘 주어 룻이 타작마당에서 그에게 말할 때, 나오미와 룻에게 필요한 구속자가 될 것임을 우리는 주지하게 됩니다.    Boaz could have passed up this opportunity, for there was another redeemer. But he didn't. He went out of his way to make his intentions clear with a vow: "As surely as the Lord lives, I will do it." Someone who loves the Word of God does not make a vow lightly (Deuteronomy 23:21-23). 보아스는 이 기회를 양도할 수도 있었습니다. 왜냐하면 또 다른 구속자가 있었기 때문입니다. 그러나 그는 그리하지 않았습니다. 그는 이러한 맹세로 자신의 의사를 분명히 하였습니다. "여호와의 사심으로 맹세하노니, 내가 이행하리라." 하나님의 말씀을 사랑하는 사람은 가볍게 맹세하지 않습니다(신 23:21-23).The God of heaven and earth promised to send us "one who promised to send us "one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens"(Hebrews 7:26)-Jesus Christ, the Word of God himself. And God has kept his promise. Through Jesus we are redeemed from the debt of sin, if we believe in him as our Savior. Do you?천지의 하나님은 "우리에게 합당하니 거룩하고 악이 없고 더러움이 없고 죄인에게서 떠나 계시고 하늘보다 높이되신 이 (히 7:26) - 하나님 말씀 자신이신 예수 그리스도"를 우리에게 보내신다고 약속하셨습니다. 하나님은 그의 약속을 지키셨습니다. 우리가 우리 구주로 그를 믿으면, 예수님을 통하여 우리는 죄의 빚으로부터 구속받게 됩니다. 여러분은 믿으십니까?PRAYER (기도)For the costly price of our redemption through Christ's sacrifice, we thank you, Lord. Naomi said to her, "My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for." - Ruth 3:1 -나오미가 그에게 이르되, "내 딸아, 내가 너를 위하여 안식할 곳을 구하여 너를 복되게 하여야 하지 않겠느냐?" (룻 3:1)Ruth's decision to leave Moab has made her a wander, with no place to call home. She has put her time into helping Naomi by doing the tiring work of gleaning in the harvest fields of Boaz, who happens to be a relative of Naomi's deceased husband. The time is ripe for Naomi to find a home for Ruth and put an end to her wandering.  룻은 모압을 떠나고자 하는 결정을 내려서 고향이라 부를 곳이 없는 방랑자가 되었습니다. 그녀는 보아스의 추수밭에서 고된 이삭줍기를 하며 나오미를 돕는데 시간을 할애했습니다. 공교롭게도, 보아스는 나오미의 죽은 남편의 친척입니다. 나오미가 룻을 위한 가정을 찾아 그의 방황을 끝낼 시간이 무르익은 것입니다.  Boaz is a guardian-redeemer, someone who can buy back Elimelek's fields and so return prosperity to the family of Elimelek. Earlier Boaz had shown a willingness to help by instructing his workers to leave behind extra grain stalks for Ruth. Naomi, banking on Boaz as an honest and caring person, hopes he will further fulfill his obligation as a member of the extended family. Because she is childless and has no other sons for Ruth to marry, Naomi sees an opportunity in Boaz as her guardian redeemer. Through this righteous Israelite, Ruth will not only find rest from her own wandering but also keep alive the name of her husband's family. Naomi speaks, and Ruth follows her instructions. And Boaz does what he is called to do.    보아스는 엘리멜렉의 밭을 되사서 엘리멜렉의 가계에 번영을 되돌리는 사람인 기업 무를 자입니다. 앞서 보아스는 룻에게 곡식 다발에서 조금씩 뽑아 버리도록 자신의 일군들에게 지시하여 룻을 기꺼이 돕고자 했습니다. 보아스를 정직하고 배려깊은 사람으로 신용한 나오미는 그가 자신의 친척으로서 의무를 수행하리라 희망합니다. 그녀에게 자식이 없고 룻이 결혼하여 아들이 없었기 때문에, 나오미는 기업 무를 자인 보아스에게 있는 기회를 본 것입니다. 이 의로운 이스라엘 인을 통하여, 룻은 자신의 방황을 끝내고 쉴 곳을 찾았을 뿐 아니라 자신의 남편의 이름을 이어갈 수 있게 됩니다. 나오미는 말하고, 룻은 그녀의 지시를 따릅니다. 그리고 보아스는 그가 행하도록 부름받은 대로 행합니다.   When the time was right, God sent his only Son, who willingly became our Redeemer. He made this earth his home, suffered, and died for all who believe in him, so that we might be adopted into God's family and receive full rights as his children (Galatians 4:4-7). 때가 되었을 때, 하나님은 기꺼이 우리의 구속자가 되었던 자신의 독생자를 보내셨습니다. 그는 이 땅으로 그의 집을 삼고, 고통 당하고, 자신을 믿는 모든 자들을 위해 죽음 당하셨습니다. 그리하여 우리는 하나님의 가정에 양자가 되어, 하나님의 자녀가 되는 온전한 권세를 받았습니다(갈 4:4-7).   기도 (PRAYER)Thank you, heavenly Father, for brining us to our Redeemer to find our restful home in Christ, In his name we pray. "Pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don't rebuke her." -Ruth 2:16"또 그를 위하여 곡식 다발에서 조금씩 뽑아 버려서 그에게 줍게 하고 꾸짖지 말라 하니라."(룻 2:16) Righteous Israelites were scarce in the time of the judges, for people generally did as they pleased. What would the owner of the field where Ruth was gleaning be like? Would he be upright and honest, or would he take advantage of a poor foreign widow?  사람들이 대체로 자기 좋은대로 행하던 사사시대에 의로운 이스라엘 사람을 찾기란 힘들었습니다. 룻이 이삭을 줍던 밭 주인은 어떠했을까요? 그는 곧고 정직했을까요? 아니면 가난한 이방 과부를 착취했을까요? Boaz turns out to be righteousness: he respects his workers and acknowledges Ruth's kindness in staying with Naomi and gleaning grain for her. Further, Boaz tells his workers to go beyond the letter of the law as stated in God's Word; he gives willingly from his abundance without being asked to help Ruth and Naomi. Boaz also encourages Ruth to glean until the harvesting is finished. Boaz does what is right in God's eyes.     보아스는 의로운 사람이었습니다. 그는 자신의 일꾼들을 존중하고 나오미와 함께 머물며 그녀를 위해 이삭을 줍는 룻의 친절을 알아줍니다. 게다가, 보아스는 하나님의 말씀에 명시된 법조문을 넘어서 행하도록 일꾼들에게 명합니다. 그는 룻과 나오미를 돕기 위하여 요구하지도 않았는데 그의 풍부한 중에서 자원하여 내어줍니다. 보아스는 또한 추수가 끝날 때까지 룻에게 이삭을 주으라 격려합니다. 보아스는 하나님의 눈에 바르게 행합니다.Boaz and Ruth's righteousness proceeds from letting God's Word shape their lives. Righteous living is the key to a life of blessing for God's people.보아스와 룻의 의로움은 하나님의 말씀을 생활화하는데서 나옵니다. 의로운 삶은 하나님의 백성을 위한 복된 삶의 열쇠입니다.Jesus therefore tells his disciples to glean their "harvest" from among "the lost sheep of Israel"(Matthew 10:6), and Jesus himself brought his good news and healing to people outside Israel(Mark 7:24-37).그러므로 예수님은 제자들에게 "잃어버린 이스라엘 양떼" 가운데서 이삭 줍기 추수를 하라고 명하십니다(마 10:6). 그리고 예수님 자신도 이스라엘 밖의 이방인들에게 복음을 전하며 그들을 치유하셨습니다(막 7:24-37).Today we, who are Gentiles like Ruth, are also temples of the Holy Spirit(1 Corinthians 6:19) and instruments of righteousness(Romans 6:13). May each of us also let God's Word shape our lives. 오늘날 룻과 같은 이방인들인 우리는 또한 성령의 전(고전 6:19)이며 의의 도구입니다(롬 6:19). 아울러 우리 각자는 하나님의 말씀으로 우리의 삶을 빚어가야 합니다. PRYER (기도)Wherever our eyes look and our feet take us, Lord, let us be righteous neighbors by the power of your Spirit. Ruth went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. - Ruth 2:3 - 룻이 가서 베는 자를 따라 밭에서 이삭을 줍는데. (룻 2:3)Many of us can identify seemingly chance events that change the course of our future. Perhaps an unexpected encounter led you to meet your husband or wife, or a casual comment led you to the career you now have. Maybe a friendship developed because you and a stranger were placed in the same study group, or your faith grew stronger because of a book you picked up or a conversation you just happened to have.  우리 대다수는 우리의 미래의 항로를 바꾸는 우연한 사건들을 발견합니다. 아마도 기대하지 않던 마주침을 통해 여러분은 아내와 남편을 만났을 것입니다. 또한 우연한 한 충고로 인하여 여러분이 지금의 직업을 가겼을 수도 있습니다. 여러분과 낯선 한 사람이 같은 학습그룹에서 만나 우정으로 발전되었을 수 있고, 여러분이 집어든 한 권의 책이나 우연히 나눈 대화 때문에 여러분의 신앙이 강해졌을 수 있습니다.    God provides for our needs in many ways. In today's story God uses the provisions of Israelite law (Deuteronomy 24:19-21) and the generosity of a famer to feed Ruth and Naomi. Boaz treats Ruth as family, through she is at best a distant relative. Through Boaz, God's care for Naomi and Ruth takes on a name and a face.     하나님은 여러 방식으로 우리의 필요를 채우십니다. 오늘 말씀에서 하나님은 룻과 나오미에게 먹을 것을 주기 위하여 이스라엘의 법 조항(신 24:19-21)과 한 농부의 관대함을 사용하십니다. 룻이 기껏해야 먼 친척인데도 보아스는 그녀를 가족으로 대우합니다. 보아스를 통하여 나오미와 룻을 위한 하나님의 보살핌이 잘 알려지게 됩니다.    As God gives a harvest, we have the opportunity to share with people around us. But God does more than provide for physical needs. Through such encounters, God reminds us that Jesus came into our midst as a human being, a "near relative," to save us from sin.
