Naomi returned from Moab --- arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning. - Ruth 1:22 -나오미가 모압 지방에서 돌아왔는데 --- 보리 추수 시작할 때에 베들레헴에 이르렀더라(룻 1:22)Around the world today, tens of thousands of people live as refugees, foreigners in a country not their own. They often face a difficult life, cut off from familiar people and places and dependent on others for daily provisions.오늘날 세상에는, 수많은 사람들이 자신들의 나라가 아닌 곳에서 난민이나 외국인으로 살고 있습니다. 그들은 친밀한 사람들과 장소로부터 떨어져서 매일의 양식을 얻기 위해 타인들에게 의존하며 어려운 삶에 직면합니다.Naomi and Ruth were in the land of Israel in search of a new life. As outsiders and widows, they were doubly vulnerable by the standards of the day. The beginning of their story is filled with heartache and sorrow. Having lost husbands and homes, how would they provide for themselves?나오미와 룻은 새 삶을 찾으러 이스라엘 땅을 찾아왔습니다. 외인이며 과부인 그들은 당시 삶의 기준으로 볼 때 두가지 약점을 지니고 있었습니다. 그들의 이야기는 쓰라린 가슴과 슬픔으로 가득차 있습니다. 남편들과 가정을 잃었으니, 어떻게 스스로 먹을 것을 구하겠습니까?  But God had arranged to take care of all that. His plan for their lives was being worked out. Though Naomi saw only God's hand of misfortune at this point, the first hopeful note in the book observes that she and Ruth came to Bethlehem at the start of the barley harvest. This is significant because it recalls that God had arranged to bless vulnerable people through the generosity of farmers who had more than enough.  그러나 하나님은 그 모든 것을 보살피기 위하여 준비하셨습니다. 그들의 삶에 대한 하나님의 계획은 잘 진행되어지고 있었습니다. 비록 나오미는 이 시점에서 불운을 주시는 하나님의 손만을 보았지만, 그녀와 룻이 보리 추수 시작때에 베들레헴에 이르렀다는 사실에서 우리는 이 책의 첫 희망의 메모를 보게 됩니다. 하나님께서 충분한 소유를 지닌 농부들의 관대함을 통하여 약자들을 복 주시려 준비하셨다는 사실을 상기시키기에 이 사실은 중요합니다.Naomi and Ruth may not have realized it, but God was at work already to arrange their arrival at just the time when he had provided the resources to show his care for them. "The Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty." - Ruth 1:20-21"전능자가 나를 심히 괴롭게 하셨음이니라. 내가 풍족하게 나갔더니 여호와께서 내게 비어 돌아오게 하셨느니라." (룻기 1:19-21) The women of Bethlehem can't believe this Naomi. "You're right," she implies; "call me Bitter; Naomi is no more. And whom do I blame? The Almighty has done this. The Lord has afflicted me." Four times Naomi complains against God, as if to say, "When is God going to do something about my problems.?"  베들레헴 여인들은 이 여인이 나오미임을 믿을 수 없었습니다. "여러분이 맞습니다." 나오미가 말하는 뜻은 다음과 같은 것입니다. "저를 쓴 여인이라 부르시오. 더 이상 나오미가 아니에요. 제가 누굴 탓하겠어요. 이 모든 건 전능자가 하신 일입니다. 주께서 절 괴롭게 하셨네요." 네 번에 걸쳐 나오미는 하나님께 불평합니다. 마치 "하나님은 제 문제에 대해 언제 관심을 보이실 건가요?"라고 말하는 듯 합니다.   Generations of oppressed Israelite fathers and mothers cried to the Lord in Egypt before he sent Moses to deliver them. How many children did Pharaoh drown? How could God allow that? Why didn't he do something sooner? (See Exodus 1-2) How long do people have to wait?  박해받던 이스라엘 조상 세대는 하나님이 그들을 구원하러 모세를 보내기 전에 이집트에서 부르짖었습니다. 바로가 얼마나 많은 어린이들을 익사시켰습니까? 하나님이 어떻게 그런 일을 허용하실 수 있나요? 하나님은 어떻게 하여 보다 빨리 조치를 취하지 않으셨나요? (참조, 출 1-2장) 백성들은 언제까지 기다려야 하나요?It's ironic that even as Naomi charges God with emptying her life, the one in whom God is working to refill her is standing right beside her. But Ruth remains silent. Later, with Naomi's permission, she will go out to gather food and marry Boaz. Ruth and Boaz will rescue Naomi by obedience to God's instructions in his Word.   나오미가 자신의 삶을 텅 비게 하였다고 하나님을 비꼴 때조차, 그녀의 삶을 재충전시키기 위해 하나님이 역사하고 계셨던 바로 그 사람이 그녀 곁에 서 있다는 사실은 아이러니입니다. 그러나 룻은 조용히 있습니다. 후에, 나오미의 허락 하에 그녀는 음식을 구하러 나가 보아스와 혼인하게 됩니다. 룻과 보아스는 말씀에 나타난 하나님의 지시를 따름으로 나오미를 구원할 것입니다.When emptiness engulfs God's people, or when the stream of God's blessing in your life slows to a trickle for whatever reason, there's only one remedy: cry out to God for help.  하나님의 백성이 텅빈 삶에 빠졌을 때, 혹은 무슨 이유에서인지 하나님의 축복이 눈곱만큼으로 줄어들 때, 오직 한가지 해결책만이 있습니다. 하나님의 도움을 구하며 부르짖으십시오.God is with us today too, through the Word, Jesus Christ. He knows our fears and our difficulties, and he intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father Almighty.   오늘날도 말씀이신, 예수 그리스도를 통하여, 하나님은 우리와 함께 계십니다. 그는 우리의 두려움과 어려움을 아시고 우리를 위하여 전능하신 아버지 보좌 우편에서 우리를 위하여 간구하십니다.PRAYER (기도)Keep my eyes open, Lord, to your Word, that it may fill my empty heart to overflowing. "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." - Ruth 1:16 -"어머니께서 가시는 곳에 나도 가고 어머니께서 머무시는 곳에서 나도 머물겠나이다. 어머니의 백성이 나의 백성이 되고 어머니의 하나님이 나의 하나님이 되시리니--- " 룻기 1:16Naomi has urged her two daughters-in-law to return to their homes. In the middle of a circle of tears. Orpah says good bye and turns toward home. At the same time, Ruth clings to Naomi and refuses to turn away, promising to go where Naomi goes and to trust in her God.나오미는 두 며느리에게 각기 그들의 고향으로 돌아가라고 권했습니다. 서로 눈물을 흘리다가 오르바가 작별을 고하고 고향을 향해 떠나갑니다. 그런데 같은 시간에 룻은 나오미에게 매달려 떠나가기를 거절하고 나오미가 가는 곳이면 어디든 가고 나오미의 하나님을 신뢰하겠다고 약속합니다.People in sorrow and loss sometimes just want to be alone. They may even have a view that everyone would be better off if they just were not around. But isolation can be a tool of Satan that leads to even more trouble and sorrow.때때로 슬픔과 상실 가운데 있는 이들은 그저 홀로 있고 싶어 합니다. 그런 이들은 만일 자기 주위에 있는 사람들이 자기 주위에서 떠나기만 한다면 그 사람들이 더 나아질 것이라고 보기까지 합니다. 그러나 고립은 사탄의 도구로서 더욱 큰 곤란과 슬픔으로 이끕니다.Naomi is wrestling with God, but she will not wrestle alone. God doesn't mean for the journey of faith to be a solitary walk. Even Jesus wanted his disciples with him when he struggled in the garden of Gethsemane(Mark 14:32-34).나오미는 하나님과 씨름하고 있습니다. 그렇지만 홀로 씨름하지 않을 것입니다. 하나님은 믿음의 길이 고독한 발걸음이 되는 것을 원치 않으십니다. 심지어 예수님도 겟세마네 동산에서 갈등하실 때에 자기의 제자들이 함께 있기를 원하셨습니다(마가 14:32-34).As Naomi returns home, she says to others, "I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty." Sorrow and loss can distort our view of the world and even our view of God. Naomi is not really returning empty.나오미는 집으로 되돌아 와서, 다른 사람들에게 이렇게 말합니다. "내가 풍족하게 나갔더니 여호와께서 내게 비어 돌아오게 하셨느니라." 슬픔과 상실은 세상에 대한 우리의 견해를 왜곡시킬 수 있으며, 심지어 하나님에 대한 우리의 견해까지도 뒤틀 수 있습니다. 나오미는 사실 빈털터리가 되어 되돌아온 것은 아니었습니다.The harvest time is just beginning, and God has given Naomi a gift in calling  Ruth to stand by her side. In the midst of loss, God provides Naomi a family.추수 때가 이제 막 시작되고 있습니다. 하나님이 룻을 불러서 나오미 곁에 서 있게 하심으로써 나오미에게 선물을 주셨습니다. 상실 가운데서 하나님은 나오미에게 가족을 제공하십니다.  PRAY (기도)Dear God, help me to see today anyone who needs me to stand by their side. May you move me from my comfort zone to be of comfort to another. May the Comforter direct me, I pray. Naomi said --- "Go back, each of you --- May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness --- "(Ruth 1:8)나오미가 --- 이르되, "너희는 각기 너희 어머니의 집으로 돌아가라 --- 너희가 나를 선대한 것 같이 여호와께서 너희를 선대하시기를 원하며 ---"(룻기 1:8)Because of a famine, Naomi left home with her husband and two sons in search of food and a better future. But then Naomi's husband died. Her two sons married, but they also died.기근 때문에 나오미는 먹을 것과 더 나은 미래를 향해서 자기 남편 및 두 아들과 함께 고향을 떠났습니다. 그러나 그런 중에 나오미의 남편이 죽었습니다. 그녀의 두 아들도 결혼했지만 그들도 죽었습니다. When the famine ended back home in Israel, Naomi returned, but she told people not to call her Naomi anymore. "Call me Mara," she said, which means "bitter." 이스라엘에 있는 고향에서 기근이 그쳤을 때 나오미는 고향으로 되돌아 왔습니다. 그렇지만 나오미는 사람들에게 자기를 더이상 나오미라 부르지 말라고 부탁했습니다. "나를 마라라 부르시오" 라고 말했습니다. '마라'라는 말은 '쓰라림'이라는 뜻입니다.Yet in the midst of her troubles, Naomi still found the faith to wrestle with God and ask him to bless her daughters-in-law. 그렇지만 그 곤고한 중에도 여전히 나오미는 하나님을 하나님을 붙잡고 하나님께 자기의 며느리를 축복해 달라고 간구할 믿음을 발견했습니다.Can a person in trouble still be a blessing to others? Absolutely. I have seen people in times of trouble deepen their faith by aiming to continue to help others. I have seen people's faith strengthened when they moved from focusing on their own concerns to giving of themselves to others, for Jesus' sake.  곤고한 중에 있는 사람이 다른 사람들에게 복이 될 수 있습니까? 당연히 그럴수 있습니다. 나는 어려움 중에 있는 사람들이 계속해서 다른 사람들을 돕겠다는 목표를 세움으로써 그들의 믿음을 깊게 하는 것을 보았습니다. 나는 사람들이 자신들의 문제에만 초점을 맞추지 않고 예수님을 위해서 다른 사람들에게 베푸는 일에 초점을 맞춤으로써 그들의 믿음이 더 강화되는 것을 보았습니다.   Today you may find yourself questioning God and even wrestling with him. In this kind of struggle, I invite you to hear Naomi's trust in God and her blessing of others. She knew that her daughters-in law had suffered as well. She did not add to their suffering. In the midst of a tearful separation, she prayed for them. Naomi was on a journey of faith, one in which her tears accompanied her walk with God.오늘 여러분이 하나님에게 의문을 던지고 심지어 하나님을 붙잡고 씨름하고 계실 수도 있습니다. 이런 갈등 가운데서 나는 여러분에게 하나님에 대한 나오미의 신뢰와 다른 사람들에 대한 그녀의 축복을 경청해 볼 것을 초대합니다. 나오미는 자기의 며느리들이 그녀와 함께 고난을 당했음을 알고 있엇습니다. 그녀는 그 며느리들에게 고난을 더 얹지 않았습니다. 눈물의 작별 와중에, 나오미는 며느리들을 위해서 기도했습니다. 나오미는 믿음의 길을 갔습니다. 그 길은 그녀가 눈물을 흘리면서 하나님께 동행해 나가는 길이었습니다. PRAY (기도)Dear God, today some of us are really struggling. Elimelek, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons --- Both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. Ruth 1:3,5나오미의 남편 엘리멜렉이 죽고 나오미와 그의 두 아들이 남았으며 --- 말론과 기룐 두 사람이 다 죽고 그 여인은 두 아들과 남편의 뒤에 남았더라.(룻 1:3-5) The land was dead, and so was Naomi's family. Did Elimelek die because he left the promised land? Did Naomi's sons die because they married foreigners? Was Naomi suffering because of her family's actions? 그 땅은 죽었고, 나오미의 가족도 죽었습니다. 엘리멜렉은 약속의 땅을 떠나서 죽은 건가요? 나오미의 아들들은 이방 여인들과 결혼했기 때문에 죽은 건가요? 그녀의 가족들의 행위때문에 나오미는 고통을 받은 겁니까? Let's consider the bigger picture. Later in Israel, the Lord announced a great famine as punishment for the nation's wickedness, but among them were 7,000 people who had remained faithful(1 Kings 19:18). Proverbs 29:2 says that "when the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan."  더 큰 그림을 살펴봅시다. 하나님께서 국가적 악행에 대한 벌로 이스라엘에 큰 기근을 주셨습니다. 그러나 주께 신실한 7,000명이 그들 가운데 남아 있었습니다(왕상 19:18). 잠언 29:2은 "의인이 많아지면 백성이 즐거워하고 악인이 권세를 잡으면 백성이 탄식하느니라"고 기록하고 있습니다. Everyone, whether guilty or innocent, suffered the costs of disobedience in the days when the judges ruled. And in the world today, many innocents ㅡ Christians and many others ㅡ suffer from all kinds of deadly diseases, natural disasters, selfish rulers, and terror attacks.유죄건, 무죄건 간에, 사사들이 통치하던 시대에 모든 사람들은 불순종의 피해를 입었습니다. 오늘날 세상에서도, 기독교인들과 많은 다른 이들을 포함한 많은 무고한 사람들이 모든 종류의 치명적인 질병, 자연재해, 이기적인 통치자와 테러 공격 등으로 고통을 받고 있습니다.   In times of great wickedness when many innocents suffer what the wicked deserve, what can you do? Wise people know that "the eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good"(Proverbs 15:3). But how long can you wait for God to do something?많은 무고한 사람들이 악인들이 받아야 마땅한 고통을 받는 악이 만연한 때에, 여러분이 할 수 있는 일이 무엇입니까? 지혜로운 사람들은 "여호와의 눈은 어디서든지 악인과 선인을 감찰하시느니라"라는 사실을 압니다(잠 15:3). 그러나 하나님께서 무언가 행사하시기를 여러분은 얼마나 오래 기다릴 수 있습니까? When Jesus cried out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34), he bore the judgement meant for the wicked. A man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab - Ruth 1:1유다 베들레헴에 한 사람이 그의 아내와 두 아들을 데리고 모압 지방에 가서 거류하였는데 (룻 1:1)In Bethlehem, which means "house of bread," cupboards were bare. So, like Abraham, who left the promised land to escape a famine (Gen. 12:10-20), Elimelek moved his family to another land. They migrated to Moab. But before long, Elimelek died, and then his two sons, who had married, died also - leaving Naomi and her Moabite daughters-in-law with no support."빵 집"을 의미하는 베들레헴의 찬장이 비었습니다. 기근을 피하여 약속의 땅을 떠났던 아브라함처럼(창 12:10-20), 엘리멜렉 가족도 외지로 이주하였습니다. 그러나 엘리멜렉은 죽고, 오래지 않아 장가 든 두 아들도 죽게 됩니다. 그리고 아무 의지할 데 없는 나오미와 모압 여인인 두 며느리들만 남게 되었습니다.   What would the God of Elimelek - whose name means "My God is King" - do about this grief and hunger? In the future, Bethlehem of Judah would provide Israel with a good and faithful king, David. But in the time of the judges, when everyone did what was right in their own eyes, there was no king in Judah.  그 이름의 뜻이 "나의 하나님은 왕"인 엘리멜렉의 하나님은 이러한 슬픔과 배고픔에 대하여 무엇을 하셨습니까? 훗날, 유다 베들레헴은 이스라엘에게 선하고 신실한 왕, 다윗을 냅니다. 그러나 모든 사람이 자기 눈에 좋은대로 행하였던 사사시대에, 유다에는 왕이 없었습니다.Still, God's people had the Lord as their King, who had been providing them with everything, and he was faithful in blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). But if Israel turned its back on him, God would also be faithful in punishment (Deuteronomy 28:15-24). That's why Bethlehem was empty and Naomi was living far from home, now alone without a husband or sons to provide for her. 하나님의 백성들에게는, 그들에게 모든 것을 제공하셨고 복 주시기에 신실하셨던 그들의 왕인 주님이 계셨습니다(신 28:1-14). 그러나 이스라엘이 그 분께 등을 돌렸다면, 하나님 또한 벌 주심에 신실하셨을 것입니다(신 28:15-24). 그것이 베들레헴이 텅 비고 나오미가 멀리 타향에서 살고 있었던 이유요, 이제는 자신의 삶을 위해 공급해 줄 남편이나 아들도 없이 홀로 된 이유인 것입니다. What would happen to Naomi? All God's people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household. Philippians 4:22모든 성도들이 너희에게 문안하되 특히 가이사의 집 사람들 중 몇이니라. (빌 4:21-23)Ron, a successful businessman, never invited any of his other friends to our church. I'm pretty sure we would have embarrassed him. Of all of us, Ron was the most sophisticated. But he loved being at Andy's house and getting his face sticky with chicken wings. And he connected well with other church friends. But maybe his high class friends in the business world would not have understood. In the early church too, social worlds collided. In today's verses, we see that Christ called people from different levels of wealth and freedom into the church. Through we can't be certain, the Christians in Caesar's household were likely  more rich and influential, or at least had better living conditions, than many other Christians in those days.이런 종류의 긴장은 기독교인에게 일반적입니다. 초대 교회 역시, 교회 안의 다른 사회 간의 충돌이 있었습니다. 오늘 말씀에서, 우리는 그리스도께서 부와 자유의 수준이 다른 사람들을 교회로 부르셨다는 사실을 보게 됩니다. 확실하지는 않지만, 가이사의 가정의 기독교인들이 더 부유하고 영향력이 있거나, 아니면 적어도 당시의 많은 다른 기독교인들에 비해 삶의 질이 나았을 것입니다.As a Christian, you have to navigate the various social networks of your life. That can be difficult and challenging. My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. These words invite followers of Jesus to exercise the same type of encouragement Paul writes about in today's Scripture reading."두 사람이 한 사람보다 낫습니다"(전 4:9). 이 말씀은 예수님의 제자들에게 오늘의 묵상 본문 가운데서 바울이 쓰고 있는 것과 동일한 종류의 격려를 서로 하도록 초대하고 있습니다.We know that a thank -you note, a commendation from a manager, or the thumbs-up signal from a parent may be a source of much needed encouragement. While Jesus himself is the greatest source of encouragement, he still chooses to nature his children through the lives of people who together share hope in him. It was Tuesday, our breakfast day. With some effort he pulled his aged legs into the car,  placed the cane between us, and let me fasten his seat belt. Then, buckled in, he sighed quietly, "Nothing gets easier."차를 몰고 요양시설로 찾아 갔을 때 친구는 벌써부터 나와 기다리고 있었습니다. 화요일은 우리가 함께 아침 식사를 하는 날입니다. 노쇠한 다리를 힘겹게 차에 집어넣고, 지팡이를 사이에 놓아두었습니다. 그런 후에 안전벨트를 채워주었습니다. 안전벨트를 맨 친구는 조용히 한숨을 쉬며, "이것도 점점 힘들어지네."My quiet, unassuming friend remembered other days - back when he was a strong, vibrant young man.  At our breakfast we could sometimes coax stories out of him about being a pilot in World War II. Or he might share with us some memories he enjoyed from decades of playing golf. He had lived a healthy, active, productive life.말수도 많지 않고 자신을 내세우지도 않는 친구가 과거를 회상했습니다. 그 때만 해도 강인하고 활동적인 청년이었습니다. 함께 식사할 때마다 그에게 2차 세계 대전 당시 전투기 조종사 시절 얘기를 해달라고 조르곤 합니다. 또는 수십 년 동안 골프를 치면서 누렸던 기쁨에 대한 기억들을 함께 나누곤 합니다. 친구는 건강하고 , 활동적이고 매우 생산적인 삶을 살았던 사람이었습니다.  But now his legs and the body that had served him well for nearly a century had become unsteady and unreliable. Simple tasks had become challenging. The sigh that came was understandable: "Nothing gets easier."근 백년을 잘 사용했던 다리와 신체가 이제는 불안정하고 의지할 수 없게 되었습니다. 아주 간단한 일도 꽤 어려워졌습니다. "이것도 점점 힘들어지네"라는 그의 한숨이 이해할 만 합니다.His gentle sigh wasn't a protest; it wasn't a grumbling complaint. My friend was simply stating a fact. What countless generations have experienced was now his lot;  he accepted it - with grace and gentleness and a trusting contentment. My friend had learned what the apostle Paul learned -  to be content in every situation.조용히 내쉬는 한숨은 저항도 투덜대는 불평도 아니었습니다. 친구는 그저 사실을 말했을 뿐입니다. 수많은 세대들이 경험했던 것이 이제 그의 몫이 되었을 뿐입니다. 은혜 가운데서도 부드럽게, 그리고 신뢰함으로 누리는 만족함으로 그 고통을 자신의 몫으로 받아들였습니다.Nothing gets easier But by an interesting twist of God's grace, we can grow spiritual fruit: patience, kindness, gentleness, contentment.쉬운 일은 하나도 없습니다. 하지만, 하나님의 은혜로 인하여 우리가 알지 못했던 반전이 일어날 때, 인내, 친절, 온유함과 자족감과 같은 영적 결실을 거둘 수 있습니다.PRAYER (기도) Lord, grant us contentment as we live out our lives. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me ㅡ put it into practice. Philippians 4:9너희는 내게 배우고 받고 듣고 본 바를 행하라. 그리하면 평강의 하나님이 너희와 함께 계시리라 (빌 4:8-9) For many people, the word 'discipline' has a negative connotation. We tend to associate the word 'discipline' with the idea of punishment.많은 사람들은 '연단'이라는 단어를 부정적으로 생각합니다. 흔히 '연단'이라는 말을 징계와 연결시킵니다.But discipline is not the same as punishment. To discipline someone is to train them to develop a pattern of behavior or shape their character. It often happens by developing habits so that doing a task becomes a regular part of our life, something we do almost without effort.그러나 연단은 징계와 똑같은 것이 아닙니다. 누군가를 연단하는 것은 일정한 행동의 패턴을 개발하거나 그 사람의 성품을 만들기 위해서 훈련시키는 것을 말합니다. 흔히 습관들을 발전시킴으로써 어떤 임무를 감당하는 것이 마치 거의 아무런 노력을 기울이지 않아도 우리가 행하는 생활의 일정한 부분이 되게 됩니다.Many people today learn how to type at a computer keyboard. At first, the practice of making the smallest finger on your left hand move from the 'q' to the 'z' on a keyboard seems awkward and difficult. But the more you practice, the more natural it becomes. If you work at a computer keyboard often, you probably don't even think about the movement of that finger anymore. The skill of typing has been produced in you through disciplined practice.오늘날 많은 사람들은 컴퓨터의 자판을 어떻게 치는지를 배웁니다. 맨 처음 여러분의 왼쪽 손의 새끼 손가락을 좌판의 'ㅂ'에서 'ㅋ'로 움직이는 연습을 해보면 어색하고 힘이 듭니다. 그러나 연습을 하면 할수록 자연스럽게 됩니다. 컴퓨터 자판을 자주 사용하게 된다면, 아마 새끼 손가락의 움직임을 거의 의식조차 하지 않을 것입니다. 꾸준한 연단의 연습을 통해서 타이핑 기술이 여러분 속에 자리잡게 되었기 때문입니다.In our text for today, Paul instructs the Christians in Philippi to practice habits that will help them experience God's peace. He asks them to learn to seek God through disciplines such as prayer, worship, and the study of all that is true and right. They are to develop habits that may initially seem awkward  and difficult but will help train them so that they may develop the character that God intends for them.오늘의 말씀에서 바울은 빌립보 그리스도인들에게 하나님의 평강을 경험하도록 도움을 주는 습관들을 연습하라고 얘기합니다. 바울은 그 그리스도인들에게 기도와 예배, 그리고 참되고 올바른 모든 것을 공부하는 일 같은 연단들을 통해 하나님을 추구하는 법을 배우라고 요청하십니다. 그 그리스도인들은 처음 시작할 때는 어색하고 힘들어 보이지만 자신들을 훈련시키는데 도움을 주는 습관들을 발전시켜 하나님께서 그들에게 원하시는 성품을 개발해야 했던 것입니다. PRAYER (기도)Father in heaven, grant me the discipline to develop good habits for shaping my character. In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. Philippians 4:6모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 하나님께 아뢰라. 빌 4:6The great hymn "Amazing Grace" summarizes is biblical faith well: "Grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home." If grace reveals that joy is a gift, then prayer is the Lord's gracious means through which he daily sustains that joy.위대한 찬송가인 "어메이징 그레이스"(나 같은 죄인 살리신)는 성경의 진리를 잘 요약하고 있습니다. 그것은 "이제껏 내가 산 것도 주님의 은혜요, 또 장차 본향에(주님의 은혜가) 인도해 주시리"라는 것입니다. 은혜가, 기쁨은 곧 선물이라는 점을 드러내준다면, 기도는 주님의 은혜의 수단임을 알려줍니다. 기도를 통해서 주님은 매일 그 기쁨을 유지시켜 주십니다. We sometimes believe we are independent, self-sufficient people. Our tired minds, aching backs, and callous hands that produced a successful career and a comfortable home seem to affirm that myth. But what if corporate restructuring takes away the paycheck, or terminal illness robs our strength and vitality? Anxiety, worry, and fear set in, taking the place of our pride. Life comes from the Lord, and so does daily help.때때로 우리는 독립적이며 스스로 알아서 살아가는 사람이라고 생각합니다. 성공적인 경력과 안락한 집을 제공해 주었던 우리의 지쳐있는 정신과 쑤시는 등, 그리고 거칠어진 손바닥이 그 신화를 확인해 주는 것처럼 보입니다. 그러나 만일 기업의 구조조정 때문에 해고 당하거나 시한부 질병 대문에 힘과 활력이 사라져 버린다면 어떻게 될까요? 염려와 근심과 두려움이 우리의 자만의 자리를 차지하고 들어와 자리잡게 됩니다.  인생은 주님으로부터 옵니다. 매일 얻는 도움도 마찬가지입니다.We come to the Lord through prayer, and the fruit of prayer is peace. Yet prayer is not a mantra, and we can't use it to try to manipulate God. Prayer is a divine gift to strengthen the bonds of love between us and God. 우리는 기도를 통해서 주님에게 나아가며, 기도의 열매는 평안입니다. 그렇지만 기도는 주문이 아닙니다. 그리고 기도를 하나님을 조종하기 위해 사용해서는 안됩니다. 기도는 주문이 아닙니다.그리고 기도를 하나님을 조종하기 위해 사용해서는 안됩니다. 기도는 우리와 하나님의 사이의 사랑의 끈을 강화시켜주기 위해 주어진 신성한 선물입니다. The act of prayer itself affirms our dependence on him for peace and joy. Peace is knowing that death is overcome by resurrection, falsehood by truth, confusion by wisdom, hatred by love. This is the joyful fruit of believers who seek the Lord! Then, when all else has failed, we can still say, "I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my say Savior"(Habakkuk 3:18).기도의 행위는 평안과 기쁨을 위해 우리가 하나님을 의지하고 있음을 확증시켜 줍니다. 평안은 죽음이 부활에 의해, 거짓이 진리에 의해, 혼란이 지혜에 의해, 미움이 사랑에 의해 극복된다는 사실을 알고 있습니다. 이것이 바로 주님을 추구하는 신자들의 기쁜 열매입니다! 그러므로 다른 모든 것이 다 실패한다 할지라도, 우리는 여전히 "나는 여호와로 즐거워하며 나는 나의 구원의 하나님으로 말미암아 기뻐하리로다"(합 3:18)고 말할 수 있습니다.PRAYER (기도)Dear Lord, I rejoice in you. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Philippians 4:5너희 관용을 모든 사람에게 알게 하라. 주께서 가까우시니라. 빌 4:5Believers will inevitably face conflict with each other because of the lingering influence of sin. Yet they are also under the influence of the Holy Spirit, who commands them to exercise the gentle joy that comes to us through the good news of Jesus Christ.아직도 죄의 영향력이 남아있기 때문에 신자들은 불가피하게 서로 갈등에 직면하게 됩니다. 그렇지만, 신자들은 성령님의 영향 아래 있습니다. 성령님은 예수 그리스도의 복음을 통해서 우리에게 임하는 온유한 기쁨을 행사하도록 신자들에게 명하십니다.Gentle joy recognizes that believers share a common hope. Regardless of our differences , our names are all written in God's "book of life." Believers also share a common purpose. They contend together in the single cause of the gospel even though each one has a different role. Finally, believers exercise common sense. Each child of God lives at a different stage of Christlike development.  온유한 기쁨은 신자들이 공동의 소망을 품고 있음을 인식합니다. 우리의 차이점에 상관없이, 우리의 이름은 다 하나님의 "생명책"에 기록되어 있습니다. 신자들은 또한 공동의 목적에 동참하고 있습니다. 신자들은 비록 각자 다른 역할을 감당하고 있지만 단일한 복음의 대의를 함께 추구합니다. 마지막으로, 신자들은 공동의 상식(common sense)을 행사합니다. 하나님의 자녀들 각각은 그리스도를 닮아 성장하는 일에 있어서 서로 다른 단계에서 살아가고 있습니다. 어떤 사람들은 산전수전을 다 겪은 베테랑이지만, 어떤 사람들은 기쁨의 여행을 이제 막 시작한 사람들입니다. Some are seasoned veterans, while others are just beginning the journey of joy. We all know that we need the gentle patience of others. What's the point? Unresolved conflict thrives under a horizontal views of life. Gentle joy, however, pursues a vertical view of life. It is always willing to aim "to agree with each other in the Lord," for it refuses to undermine the common hope, common purpose, and common sense of Jesus Christ. 우리 모두는 다른 사람들이 우리를 온유함으로 참아줄 필요가 있는 사람들임을 잘 알고 있습니다. 핵심이 무엇입니까? 갈등이 해소되지 않은 채 지속적으로 번져나가는 경우는 우리의 시각이 옆으로만 퍼져나갈 때 나타납니다. 그러한 관점은 개인적인 이익만 높이며, 편견을 조장하고, 기쁨을 앗아가 버립니다. 그러나 온유한 기쁨은 삶에 대한 수직적인 시각을 추구합니다. 그 기쁨은 언제나 "주 안에서 서로 뜻을 같이 하는 일"을 목표로 합니다. 이는 그 기쁨이 예수 그리스도의 공동의 소망, 공동의 목적, 공동의 상식을 손상시키기를 거부합니다.  A follower of Jesus refuses to be imprisoned by conflict. Instead, the believer will make every effort to gently "keep the unity of the Spirit"(Ephesians 4:3).예수님을 따르는 제자는 갈등에 얽매이기를 거부합니다. 대신에 신자는 온유함으로 "성령이 하나되게 하신 것을 지키기 위해" 모든 노력을 기울일 것입니다(엡 4:3).PRAYER (기도)Dear Lord, "make me a channel of your peace ... Where there is darkness, let me bring your light; and where there's sadness, ever joy." In Jesus' name we pray. That is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends! (Philippians 4:1)그러므로 --- 사랑하는 자들아, 이와같이 주 안에 서라! (빌 4:1)A local TV station advertises that their news is uniquely prepared "for you." In return, it requires "by you." Such a bold claim, however, is probably better reserved for the Bible. The good news that joy is Jesus' gift for you invites a response by you.     한 지역 텔레비젼 방송국이 자기들의 뉴스는 특별하게 "여러분을 위해서" 준비되었으며, 그 뉴스에 대한 "여러분의" 응답이 필요하다고 광고합니다. 그러나 이와같은 대담한 주장은 아마도 성경에 더 잘 맞는 것으로 보입니다. 기쁨이 여러분을 위해 준비한 예수님의 선물이라는 좋은 소식은 여러분의 응답을 초대하고 있습니다.Paul's longing for his dear friends moves beyond social contact to spiritual impact. They are his "joy and crown" because they stand firm in the Lord. From Paul's warm friendship flows his repeated encouragement that they find their strength in the joy of the Lord(see Nehemiah 8:10). Since this good news is for them, it calls for a response by them.자기의 사랑하는 벗들을 보고싶은 바울의 마음은 사회적인 접촉으로부터 영적인 영향력으로 넘어가고 있습니다. 그의 친구들이 주 안에서 굳게 서 있기 때문에 그들은 그의 "기쁨이며 면류관"입니다. 바울의 따스한 우정에서부터 그들에게 주님의 기쁨 가운데서 힘을 찾으라는 거듭되는 격려가 흘러나옵니다(참조 느 8:10). 이 복음은 그들을 위한 것이기 때문에 그들 편에서의 응답을 요청하고 있습니다.It's far too easy to forget the main message of grace and revert to old, deadly patterns ㅡ like trying to earn God's favor or carelessly putting our hope in the riches of the world. But what can be seen and touched can also be easily lost or stolen. Believers, therefore, must be vigilant. "What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal"(2 Corinthians 4:18). In the gospel, joy always remains the gift of God's eternal grace!     은혜의 중심적인 메시지를 망각하고 이전의 고질적인 패턴으로 되돌아가기가 너무나 쉽습니다. 그래서 하나님의 총애를 얻으려고 노력하거나 세상의 부요에 부질없는 소망을 두기도 합니다. 그러나 눈으로 볼 수 있고 손으로 만져지는 것은 또한 쉽게 사라지며 도둑 맞습니다. 그러므로 믿는 자들은 언제나 눈을 뜨고 경계심을 늦추어서는 안됩니다. "보이는 것은 잠깐이요 보이지 않는 것은 영원합니다"(고후 4:18). 복음 가운데 있는 기쁨이 언제나 하나님의 영원한 은혜의 선물입니다!God's good news of joy in Jesus Christ is uniquely prepared for you! What is your response? Our citizenship is in heaven. (Philippians 3:20)우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있는 지라. (빌 3:20)I was visiting my infant grandson when his Canadian birth certificate came in the mail. I said to him, "Elliot, you may not understand what you have just received, but this shows how really blessed you are. An infrastructure is set up to provide safety, education, health care, and so much more! Hopefully, in a world where many risk life and limb to enter this country, you can grow to appreciate this great gift of citizenship, and you, in turn, will contribute to the welfare of this country."이제 갓 태어난 손주를 방문하고 있을 때에 손자의 캐나다 출생 증명서가 우편으로 도착했습니다. "엘리엇, 네가 지금은 이 우편물이 무엇인지 모르겠지만, 이건 네가 얼마나 축복받은 사람인지 보여주는 거란다"라고 손주에게 말했습니다. "출생 증명서란 안전, 교육, 보건 등 살아가는데 필요한 사회 제반 시설이 확보되었다는 걸 말해주는 거란다. 많은 사람이 이 나라에 들어오기 위해 목숨을 걸어야 하는 세상에서 우리 아기가 시민권을 받았다는 사실에 감사하고, 이 나라의 번영을 위해 나중에 기여하게 되기를 기도할게."We must never forget though, as Paul reminds us, that we are also citizens of heaven. God gives us life itself - along with protection, healing, and sound teaching for full life with him! We show appreciation for this gift by following Jesus and keeping our eyes on those who live by faith in him.사도 바울께서 우리에게 일깨워준 것처럼, 우리 역시 하늘나라의 시민권을 지닌 자임을 잊지말아야 합니다. 우리에게 생명을 주실 때, 하나님께서는 우리를 보호하시고, 치유해 주시며, 그분과 함께 살아가는 충만한 삶에 대한 건강한 가르침 또한 주셨습니다. 예수님을 따르는 삶을 살면서, 주님에 대한 믿음으로 살아가는 사람들을 바라보며 우리가 받은 이 선물에 대한 감사를 표하게 됩니다.Sadly, as Paul points out, there are many others who are enemies of the cross. In other words, they do not want to recognize their sin that Jesus paid for on the cross. "Their god is their stomach" - all kinds of fleeting appetites - and they occupy themselves with selfish gain and the power, status, or fame(glory) that this world thinks is important. But all these things only fade away.애석하게도, 바울이 지적하듯, 십자가를 대적하며 살아가는 사람도 많습니다. 바꿔 표현하자면, 이들은 예수께서 십자가에서 자신들을 위해 대속해주신 죄가 무엇인지  인정하고 싶지 않는 사람들입니다. 계속해서 바뀌는 식욕을 채워가는 인생이기에 "그들의 신은 식욕"이며, 이 세상이 중요하다고 여기는 이기적인 이득과 권력, 지위와 명성으로 자신을 채워갑니다. 그러난 이 모든 것은 금세 사라질 것입니다.To be included as citizenship of God's kingdom, we do not have to risk life and limb; rather, we place our hope, trust, and love, in Jesus Christ, who has the power "to bring everything under his control." How truly blessed we are!천국의 시민권을 가진 자가 되기 위해서 목숨을 걸 필요는 없습니다. 대신에, "만물을 자기에게 복종하게 하실 수 있는" "능력을 갖추고 계신 예수 그리스도에게 우리는 모든 소망, 믿음, 사랑을 두면 됩니다. 우리는 얼마나 큰 축복을 받은 자들입니까!PRAYER (기도)Spirit of God, enable us to be faithful citizens of your kingdom.
