September 26, 2023 . OCH (말라기 1:6) TEACHERS OF CONTEMPT 경멸의 교사

"It is you priests who show contempt for my name. But you ask, How have we shown contempt for your name?" - Malachi 1:6
"내 이름을 멸시하는 제사장들아 --- 너희는 이르기를, '우리가 어떻게 주의 이름을 멸시하였나이까?' 하는도다." (말 1:6)
In Israel's day, the priests were supposed to lead the people to have a good relationship with God. But at the time of Malachi they were actually influencing the people to despise God's name. People respected God less because of the way the priests treated God.
고대 이스라엘 시대에, 제사장들은 백성들이 하나님과 바른 관계를 갖도록 인도하는 역할을 하는 사람들이었습니다. 그러나 말라기 시대에, 사실상 그들은 백성들이 하나님의 이름을 경멸하도록 영향을 주었습니다. 제사장들의 하나님에 대한 태도 때문에 백성들은 오히려 하나님을 덜 존경했습니다.
God's name is God's reputation, and it's very important. It's how we think about him. Sometimes God's people portray him as angry and mean. Other times we portray him as being weak, or unfair, or uncaring. When God's people don't show the world what God is really like, it confuses people and makes them less likely to accept him.
하나님의 이름은 하나님의 명성이며, 그것은 매우 중요한 것입니다. 하나님의 이름은 우리가 그 분을 어찌 생각하는지를 보여줍니다. 때때로 하나님의 백성들은 하나님을 분노하시며 심술궂은 분으로 묘사합니다. 또 어떤 때 우리는 하나님을 위약하거나, 불공평하거나, 혹은 무정한 분으로 묘사합니다. 하나님의 백성이 이 세상에서 하나님을 바로 증거하지 못할 때, 그것은 사람들에게 혼란을 주어, 그들로 하나님을 잘 받아들이지 못하게 합니다.
Thankfully the Bible portrays God as he truly is - compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in love. Though God may become angry, his anger doesn't last, and his love returns. And in his love the Lord removes our transgressions and sins from us- "as far as the east is from the west."
감사하게도, 성경은 하나님이 그러하신 것처럼, 자비롭고, 노하기를 더디하시며, 사랑이 풍성하신 분으로 묘사합니다.비록 하나님이 분노하실지라도, 그의 분노는 오래가지 않고 사랑으로 돌아옵니다. 그의 사랑 안에서, 주께서는 "동이 서에서 먼 것처럼" 우리의 허물과 죄를 없이 하십니다.
When we read the Bible and accept the whole book as the revelation of who God is, how God acts, and what his purposes are, then, over time, we can grow to know him better. He is the one, true, holy God who offers us salvation from sin. And as we grow to know him, we have a responsibility to honor God's name all over the world, showing people the loving God that he truly is.
우리가 성경을 읽고 그 전체를 하나님의 존재와 행위를 계시하는 책으로 받아들일 때, 우리는 시간이 흐를수록 그를 더 잘 알 수 있도록 성장하게 됩니다. 그는 우리를 죄에서 해방시켜 구원해 주시는 홀로 한 분이신 참되고 거룩한 하나님이십니다. 그를 아는 지식에 자라감에 따라, 우리는 온 세상에 하나님의 이름을 높일 의무가 있습니다. 그를 통하여 사람들은 사랑의 하나님 되심을 보게 됩니다.

Lord Jesus, you are gracious and kind. You haven't ignored our sin or or the difficulties in this world. You gave your life to heal us. Help us to get to know you better each day. Amen.
주 예수님, 주는 은혜로우시며 온유하십니다. 주는 우리의 죄나 이 세상의 역경들을 좌시하지 않습니다. 주는 우리를 치유하시고자 생명을 주셨습니다. 매일 주를 더욱 알게 도와주옵소서. 아멘.
