God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church. ㅡ Ephesians 1:22 [하나님이] 만물을 그의 발 아래에 복종하게 하시고 그를 만물 위에 교회의 머리로 삼으셨느니라 (엡 1:22) For the next few days we will be thinking about the vertical habit of saying "Help me" to God. Like each of the other habits we have been looking at so far, this is one we learn early in life. The most remarkable thing about our prayers is that they soar right up to the highest heavenly realm where Christ is seated. They were surprised to learn that the Bhutanese people are permitted to visit the king of Bhutan whenever they want to. About 30 people go to see the king each day.나의 자녀들이 학교에서 부탄 왕국에 대해 배웠을 때를 기억합니다. 그들은 부탄 국민들이 원할 때마다 언제나 부탄 왕을 찾아 갈 수 잇도록 허락되어 있다는 사실을 알고 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 대략 30여명의 부탄 국민들이 매일 그 왕을 배알합니다.Can you imagine being able to speak with the leader of your country? As amazing as that sounds, we have a far greater privilege that is ours to enjoy every time we pray. I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.  ㅡ Ephesians 1:16 내가 기도할 때에 기억하며 너희로 말미암아 감사하기를 그치지 아니하고 (엡 1:16)Marina heard the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time while she was in the hospital. Another patient there, Antonina, explained to her what Christ did for us on the cross and how to be spiritually healed by his wounds. Soon marina trusted in Jesus for her salvation.마리나는 병원에 입원하고 있을 때 예수님의 복음을 처음으로 듣게 되었습니다. 또 다른 환자인 안토니나는 예수님께서 십자가에서 우리를 위하여 무슨 일을 하셨는지 그리고 그의 상함을 인하여 우리가 영적으로 어찌 치유되는지에 대하여 그녀에게 설명했습니다. 마리나는 곧 예수를 믿어 구원에 이르게 되었습니다. Later in her letter to us she shared, "When I entered the hospital, I was so depressed. But I learned about Jesus and was encouraged by his gospel. The Bible teachers us to love both God and our neighbors. He sought to share with his readers God's high goals for the church. Yet against the background of this monumental task, the apostle remembers to say how thankful he is for the ordinary believers in the city of Ephesus. He compliments them for their devotion to Jesus and for their love for all God's people. You also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation ---You were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit --- ㅡ Ephesians 1:13그 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀 곧 너희의 구원의 복음을 듣고 그 안에서 또한 믿어 약속의 성령으로 인치심을 받았으니 (엡 1:13)Paul begins his letter to the Ephesisans with great praise to God for all the blessings we receive in Jesus. Back in eternity before he created the world, God worked out "the mystery of his will" with "all wisdom and understanding." Father, Son, and Holy Spiritㅡthree persons in one God working togetherㅡdesigned a way to include us humans in their family. Through we are imperfect and weak and even sinful, Christ came to give up his perfect life to pay the debt of our sin. And when we believe in him as Savior, we receive the Spirit of God himself to work in us as the gurantee of our inheritance with God forever.바울은 그리스도 안에서 우리가 받은 모든 축복에 대해 하나님을 찬양하면서 에베소서에 보내는 편지를 시작합니다. 하나님께서 세상을 창조하기 훨씬 이전부터 하나님께서는 "모든 지혜와 총명으로" "그 뜻의 비밀을" 펼쳐 내셨습니다. 한 분 하나님 안에서 함께 일하시는 아버지, 아들, 성령의 삼위일체 하나님께서 우리 인간을 그분의 가족 안에 품어주실 방법을 계획하셨습니다. 비록 우리는 완벽하지 못하고, 연약하며, 심지어 죄로 가득하지만, 그리스도께서 우리의 죗값을 치르시기 위해 자신의 완전한 생명을 내어주시기 위해 오셨습니다. 그리고 우리가 그분을 구세주로 영접할 때, 우리 안에서 역사하시는 하나님의 영을 받아 영원한 하나님의 유업을 보장받았습니다.  One cannot read words like "the mystery of his will" without wondering, "Can we even begin to understand God's will?" Books have been written in attempts to understand the will of God. And when it comes to ideas like "predestined" and "adoption" into God's family, we have to admit this is a mystery. We cannot comprehend it.사람들은 "그 뜻의 비밀"이란 문구를 접할 때마다 "과연 우리는 하나님의 뜻을 이해할 수조차 있을까?"라는 의구심을 갖게 됩니다. 성경 말씀은 하나님의 뜻을 이해하도록 기록된 것입니다. 그리고 "미리 예정된"이나, 하나님의 가족으로 "입양"된다는 개념을 접할 때, 우리는 이 모든 것이 비밀이라는 사실을 받아들여야만 합니다. 우리는 그 비밀을 이해할 수 없습니다. Still, we have the assurance of knowing we're includedㅡin Christㅡ having heard the message of truth, the gospel of salvation! We have received the Holy Spirit as a seal of our salvation. And with joy and delight we can see the work of the Spirit bearing fruit in usㅡ"to the praise of his glory"!그런데도, 우리는 구원의 복음인 진리의 메시지를 듣고 난 후, 그리스도를 통하여 접붙임을 받았다는 사실을 확신합니다. 우리가 구원받았음에 대한 봉인으로서 성령님을 받았습니다. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ ㅡ Ephesians 1:4-5사랑 안에서 그 앞에 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하시려고 그 기쁘신 뜻대로 우리를 예정하사 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 자기의 아들들이라 하셨으니 (엡 1:4-5) The Scriptures sometimes use courtroom language: apart from Jesus, the verdict is that we are guilty. We need Jesus to be our advocate, to bear our punishment so that we can be acquitted. This terminology is especially helpful for seeing how radical and undeserved God's gorgiveness is.   때때로 성경은 법정에서 쓰는 용어를 사용합니다. 예수님이 없다면, 우리에게 내려진 언도는 유죄라는 것입니다. 우리에게는 예수님이 우리의 변호사가 되실 필요가 있으며, 우리가 석방될 수 있으려면 예수님이 우리가 받은 처벌을 감당하시는 일이 필요합니다. 이러한 용어는 특히 하나님의 용서가 얼마나 급진적이며 우리가 그 용서를 감히 받을 자격이 없는지를 알게 해주는데 유익합니다. But courtroom language is only one type of scriptural language. We also hear lots of family language, including the language of adoption. God offers us not only forgiveness, but also membership in a family. God offers us a lifelong relationship in which he adops us as sons and daughters.그러나 법정에서 쓰는 용어가 성경 언어의 유일한 유형은 아닙니다. 입양이라는 말을 포함해서 가정 생활과 관계된 많은 언어도 들을 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리에게 용서만 제공해주시는 것이 아니라 가족의 일원이 되도록 가족의 신분도 제공해 주십니다. 하나님은 우리를 아들과 딸로 입양하셔서 평생 동안의 관계를 제공해 주십니다.And when God takes us as his children, we inherit a lot of gifts. Children who are adopted receive a lot more than a home. They also receive an extended family, a set of memories, and a set of traditions. Adoption is onetime act that leads to a full life of opportunities, relationships, and memories. 그래서 하나님이 우리를 그의 자녀로 받아들이실 때 우리는 많은 선물을 물려 받습니다. 입양된 자녀들은 단지 가정만 받게 되는 것이 아니라 가정 이상의 많은 것을 받습니다. 그들은 또한 그 가정과 연결되어 있는 대가족을 맞이하게 되며, 많은 기억들을 받게 되며, 엄청난 전통을 받아들이게 됩니다. 입양은 한 번 만에 이루어지는 사건이지만, 많은 기회와 관계와 추억이 풍성한 삶으로 인도해 줍니다.Spiritual adoption is similar: we receive more blessings than we can count. We, too, receive a family (the church), a set of memories (recorded in the Bible and history), and a set of traditions (especially for holidays).영적인 입양도 그와 마찬가지입니다. 우리는 우리가 손으로 셀 수 있는 것보다 훨씬 더 많은 복을 받습니다. 우리 역시 가정(교회)을 받게 되며, (성경과 역사 가운데 기록되어 있는) 한 보따리의 추억과 (특히 축일들에 대한) 전통을 맞이하게 됩니다.   The image of adaption reminds us, in part, how radical conversion is. We are not merely God's clients. We are God's children! 입양이라는 이미지는 우리에게 급진적인 회심이 어떤 것인가를 부분적으로 일깨워줍니다. 우리는 단순히 하나님의 고객들이 아닙니다. 우리는 하나님의 자녀들입니다!PRAYER (기도)O God, you welcome us as sheep of flock through your Son, Jesus. You embrace us as full members of your family. Thank you for this good news of your great love. (From) Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God's holy people in Ephesus --- ㅡ Ephesians 1:1하나님의 뜻으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수의 사도 된 바울은 에베소에 있는 성도들과 --- (엡 1:1)What do you usually think of when you here the word saint? Most of us think of some revered religious person. But what about the person you see in the mirror?성자라는 단어를 들으면 어떤 생각이 떠오르나요? 사람들은 대개 존경받는 종교인을 떠올리곤 합니다. 하지만, 거울에 비친 여러분의 모습은 어떨까요?  Though most of us don't see ourselves as saints, that is what we are when we believe in Jesus. Because of his work,  we are being sanctified, made holy, as we live out our lives serving the Lord ㅡ and that means we are saints.자신이 성자라고 여기는 일은 거의 없지만, 우리가 예수님을 믿을 때 갖게 되는 우리 모습이 바로 성자입니다. 예수님이 친히 이루신 일로 말미암아 주님을 섬기려 노력하는 삶을 살 때 우리는 성화되고 거룩해지는 것입니다 ㅡ 우리가 성자인 것은 바로 이런 이유 때문입니다.  Because of Jesus, I am not what I or others will often perceive me to be. Instead, I am who God  declares me to be. Through Jesus' sacrifice for my sake, I am now declared righteous and holy.에수님으로 말미암아 나는 자신이나 다른 사람들이 인식하고 있는 모습의 내가 아닙니다. 대신, 나는 하나님께서 선포하신 대로의 모습을 갖게 됩니다. 나를 위한 예수님의 희생을 통해 이제 나는 의롭다 하심을 입었고 거룩한 자라 선포됩니다.   Paul understood that we are profoundly transformed in God's sight when we come to faith in Jesus. That's why Paul begins his letter to the Ephesian believers by addressing them as "God's holy people." Literally, he refers to them as "the saints in Ephesus." Despite being new to the faith and still having a long a long way to go in their spiritual development, Paul recognizes them as saints.예수님을 믿을 때 하나님이 보시기에 우리에게 확연한 변화가 일어난다는 사실을 바울은 알고 있었습니다. 그런 연유에서 바울은 에베소에 보내는 편지의 서두에서 그들을 "성도(하나님의 거룩한 백성)"라고 칭한 것입니다. 말 그대로 바울은 그들을 "에베소에 있는 성도들"이라고 칭했습니다. 믿음에 관해 서툴고, 영적인 성장에서 볼 때 아직은 가야 할 길이 멀어 보임에도 불구하고, 바울은 그들을 성자로 인식하고 있습니다.A saint is someone consecrated to God and set apart for God's service. Through baptism, believers are marked as God's treasured possession, set apart for his divine purposes. Just as it would be foolish to build only a doghouse on the foundation of a skyscraper, it would be foolish to build anything less than a sanctified life on the foundation Jesus established for us.성도란 하나님께 자신을 내어드린 사람이요 하나님을 섬기겠노라 자신을 구별한 사람입니다. 세례를 통하여 믿는 자들은 하나님께 속하게 되고 하나님의 섭리가 담긴 목적에 따라 구별된 보배로운 존재로 인침을 받습니다. 고층 건물을 지으려고 닦아놓은 터전에 개집만 세우는 게 어리석은 일인 것처럼 예수님이 우리를 위해 마련해 놓으신 삶의 터전에 거룩하게 구별되지 못한 삶을 세워간다는 건 성도로서 부끄러운 삶을 사는 것과 같습니다.PRAYER (기도)Lord God, thank you for making us holy in Jesus. Help us to live into our new identity as saints each day.주 하나님, 예수님 안에서 우리를 거룩하게 세워 주시니 감사합니다. 매일매일 우리에게 새롭게 허락하신 성자의 삶을 살아가게 하소서. 아멘. 

"I will send the prophet Elijah to you --- He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents ---" ㅡ Malachi 4:5-6"내가 선지 엘리야를 너희에게 보내리니 --- 그가 아비의 마음을 자녀에게로 돌이키게 하고 자녀들의 마음을 그들의 아비에게로 돌이키게 하리라 ---" (말라기 4:5-6) The closing verses of Malachi remind us what the whole book has been about. They also point ahead to the New Testament.말라기의 마지막 말씀은 말라기 전체가 무엇에 관한 것인지를 상기시킵니다. 그것은 또한 신약성경을 향하고 있습니다.Malachi began by stating God's love for his children. Israel had become distant from God. But God sent Malachi(whose name means "my messenger") to show Israel how they had wandered from God. Now God promises that Elijah(whose name means "my God is Yahweh") will restore the relationship. The names of these prophets are important ㅡ the message from God (Malachi) results in the Lord again being the God of his people(Elijah).말라기는 자녀들에 대한 하나님의 사랑을 말함으로 시작되었습니다. 이스라엘은 하나님에게서 멀어졌습니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 말라기(그 이름은 "나의 사자"를 의미함)를 보내셔서 이스라엘 사람들이 어떻게 하나님을 떠나 방황했는지 보여 주십니다. 이제 하나님은 엘리야(그 이름은 "나의 하나님 여호와"라는 뜻)가 그 관계를 회복시킬 것이라고 약속하십니다. 이 선지자들의 이름은 중요합니다. 즉 하나님에게서 온 메시지(말라기)는 여호와께서 다시 그의 백성들의 하나님(엘리야)이 되시는 결과를 낳습니다.  These words point powerfully to the New Testament and the good news of Jesus of Nazareth, who is God's Messsiah. John the Baptist proclaimed Christ's coming, fulfilling Malachi's prophecy about Elijah (see Matthew 11:7-15). Through John, the people turn to God in repentance, and then Jesus' baptism recalls Malachi 4:6: "You are my Son, whom I love"(Mark 1:11). John recognizes Jesus as the Word ㅡ the very message of God ㅡ fulfilling the purpose of Malachi.이 말씀은 신약성경과 하나님의 메시아인 나사렛 예수님의 복음을 강력하게 가리킵니다. 세례요한은 엘리야에 관한 말라기의 예언을 성취하면서 그리스도의 오심을 선포했습니다.(참조, 마태복음 11:7-15).요한을 통해 백성들은 회개로 하나님께 돌아왔고, 예수님의 세례는 말라기 4장 6절을 연상시킵니다. "너는 내가 사랑하는 나의 아들이다"(마가복음 1:11). 요한은 말라기의 목적을 성취하는 하나님의 바로 그 메시지이자, 말씀이신 예수님을 알아보았습니다.  In this last Old Testament prophetic book, God says, "I love you." And in the New Testament God shows how much he loves us: he sent his only Son, and he sent his Holy Spirit to bring us to himself. This is how much God loves you!이 마지막 구약의 예언서에서, 하나님은 "나는 너를 사랑한다"고 말씀하십니다. 그리고 신약성경에서, 하나님께서 우리를 얼마나 사랑하시는지 보여줍니다. 그는 외아들을 보내주셨고, 성령을 보내주셔서 우리를 자신에게로 돌아오게 하셨습니다. 이것이 바로 하나님께서 당신을 얼마나 사랑하는가를 보이는 것입니다!Dear Lord, you turn our hearts back to you. "For you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays." ㅡ Malachi 4:2"내 이름을 경외하는 너희에게는 의로운 해가 떠올라서 치료하는 광선을 발하리니"(말라기 4:2) This beautiful promise near the end of the book of Malachi was for those who felt convicted of their disrespect for God and who signed the "scroll of remembrance" to recommit themselves to God. Righteousness would rise up to shine on them like the rays of the sun. And in those rays they would find healing.말라기서 말미의 이처럼 아름다운 약속은 하나님께 대한 불경에 가책을 받은 사람들과 하나님께 재 헌신하여 "기념책"에 기록된 사람들을 위한 것이었습니다. 의가 태양의 광선처럼 그들 위해 비치기 위해 떠오를 것입니다.  그리고 그 광선으로 그들은 치유받게 될것입니다. We might resonably ask what sort of healing Malachi had in mind. Malachi talks again about the last days when the world will be purified as with fire. He had pointed out that no one was safe from God's refining fire (Malachi 3:2-3). In other words, we are all sinners. The difference is that those who live in humble repentance for the sin that makes them distant from God will be forgiven of their sins. Those who will not fear God will be consumed as in a fire that burns everything completely.   우리는 말라기 선지자가 어떤 종류의 치유를 염두에 두고 있는지 합리적으로 질문할 수 있습니다. 말라기는 세상이 불로 정화될 마지막 날에 관해 다시 말합니다. 그는 아무도 하나님의 연단하시는 불에서 안전하지 못하리라고 지적했습니다(말라기 3:2-3). 다른 말로 하면 , 우리는 모두 죄인이라는 말입니다. 차이점은 하나님으로부터 멀어지게 만든 죄를 겸손하게 회개하며 사는 자들은 용서받을 것이요, 하나님을 두려워하지 않는 자들은 모든 것을 태우는 불 가운데서 소멸될 것입니다.Just as those who signed the scroll of remembrance in Malachi's day, we too have the opportunity to commit or recommit ourselves to God. If we can accept and repent of our own sin and imperfection, the hurts we have caused others, and the distance our sin has created between ourselves and God, then God's righteousness will rise like the sun on us as well.말라기 시대에 기념책에 기록된 사람들처럼, 우리 역시 하나님께 헌신하거나 재 헌신할 기회가 있습니다. 만약 우리가 우리 자신의 죄와 불안전성, 다른 이들에게 준 상처, 죄로 인하여 만든 하나님과 우리 사이의 거리를 인정하고 회개할 수 있다면, 하나님의 의는 우리 위에도 태양처럼 떠오를 것입니다.PRYER (기도)Dear Jesus, you rose from the dead and shined your righteousness on me. I know that you have paid for my sins. Please accept my prayer and help me to commit my life to you. Amen. 존귀하신 예수님, 주님은 죽음에서 부활하시고 저에게 주의 의를 비춰 주셨습니다. 주께서 저의 죄값을 다 지불해 주신 것을 압니다. 제 기도를 용납하시사 제 삶을 주님게 헌신하게 도와주옵소서. 아멘.

Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard --- "On the day when I act, "says the Lord Almighty, "they will be my treasured possession." ㅡ Malachi 3:16-17"그 때에 여호와를 경외하는 자들이 피차에 말하매 여호와께서 그것을 분명히 들으시고 --- 만군의 여호와가 이르노라, "내가 나의 정한 날에 그들로 나의 특별한 소유를 삼을 것이요"(말라기 3:16-17) Throughout the book of Malachi we have been reading about one insult against God after another. For some people this disrespect was deep in their hearts. But for others the respect came out of a distance from God that they didn't really want. This latter group finally become convicted of their sins and turned back to God. "You have spoken arrogantly against me," says the Lord, "You have said, 'It is futile to serve God." ㅡ Malachi 3:13-14여호와가 이르노라, "너희가 완악한 말로 나를 대적하고도, 너희가 말하기를, "하나님을 섬기는 것이 헛되다'고 너희가 말하는도다"(말 3:13-14)Sometimes it can seem futile to serve God. These verses point out that sometimes arrogant people are blessed, evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge and test God seem to get away with it. It can seem that it's better to be bad than to be good.때로는 하나님을 섬기는 것이 무익해 보일 수도 있습니다. 오늘의 말씀은 거만한 사람들이 때로 복 받고, 악한 자들이 번성하며, 하나님께 도전하고 시험하는 사람들조차도 잘 모면해 나가는 것처럼 보인다는 사실을 지적합니다. 마치 악한 것이 선한 것보다 더 나은 것 같아 보일 수 있습니다.  Many people today make this same mistake and ask the same questions. It's not that they are mistaken in what they see; often times arrogant, wicked, and brazen people do acquire more wealth and power than others. But the mistake the people are making is in what they consider a blessing.오늘날 많은 사람들이 이와 동일한 실수를 범하고 동일한 질문을 합니다. 그들이 실수로 잘못 본 것이 아닙니다. 사실상 번번히 거만하고, 사악하며, 뻔뻔한 사람들이 더 많은 부와 권력을 소유하곤 합니다. 오히려 사람들이 저지른 실수는 그들이 무엇을 복으로 생각하느냐에 있습니다. In the Lord's Prayer, God's people pray for God's glory, his kingdom, their daily bread, forgiveness, and delivery from evil. The measure of success is not wealth, fame, and power. If we complain about the blessings that evil people receive, we are actually exposing the immaturity of our own faith. We show that we are still struggling with the desire to place our trust in material blessings rather than in Jesus Christ. That begs the question of how we might bend or break the rules if we have the opportunity to gain wealth or power. "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this --- and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven ---  ㅡ Malachi 3:10"만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희의 온전한 십일조를 창고에 들여 나의 집에 양식이 있게 하고 그것으로 나를 시험하여 내가 하늘 문을 열고 너희에게 복을 쌓을 곳이 없도록 붓지 아니하나 보라." (말 3:10) This is one of the more well known verses in the book of Malachi. It seems to offer a simple formula to receive God's blessings. Give to God, and he will give back even more. But people who care only about material blessings are going to be disappointed. 이 구절은 말라기서에서 아주 잘 알려진 말씀 중 하나입니다. 이 말씀은 마치 하나님의 복을 받는 간단한 공식을 제공하는 듯이 보입니다. 하나님께 드려라, 그리하면 하나님이 더 많은 것으로 돌려주실 것이다. 그러나 물질적인 복에만 관심을 두는 사람들은 실망하게 될 것입니다. What God is really saying is that if his children are in a good relationship with him, he will bless them abundantly. In my personal experience that has not meant riches or perfect health. But I've found that when my relationship with God is close, two things happen.하나님 말씀의 진의는 자신의 자녀들이 하나님과 좋은 관계에 있으면 그들을 넘치도록 축복할 것이라는 것입니다. 나의 개인적인 경험에 비추어 볼 때, 그 말씀은 부나 완뱍한 건강을 의미하지 않습니다. 그러나 하나님과의 관계가 친밀해질 때, 두 가지 일이 일어나는 것을 나는 발견했습니다.   First, I'm quicker to notice the types of blessings God promises. I notice that my efforts are more productive with fewer things going wrong. This is a real material blessing. Second, my expectations in life become more reasonable, resulting in more contentment with less stuff. Often that contentment comes through the humble realization that in most of the world people would call me blessed with riches. God is not interested in religious formulas that appear to coerce him into blessing us. Instead, God wants a relationship in which he can be our loving, generous Father. "But you ask, 'How are we to return?' Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How are we robbing you?' In tithes and offerings." ㅡ Malachi 3:7-8"너희가 이르기를 '우리가 어떻게 하여야 돌아 가리이까? 하도다. 사람이 어찌 하나님의 것을 도적질하겠느냐? 그러나 너희는 나의 것을 도적질하고도 말하기를, '우리가 어떻게 주의 것을 도적질하였나이까?' 하도다. 이는 곧 십일조와 헌물이라." (말 3:7-8)The Israelites are not sure how to come back to God. God lays out a fairly simple path : if they stop robbing him, he will help them return.이스라엘 백성들은 하나님께 돌아가는 방법에 대해 확신하지 못하고 있습니다. 하나님은 비교적 단순한 길을 열어 놓으셨는데 말입니다. 만약에 그들이 하나님의 것을 도적질하지 않는다면, 하나님은 그들이 돌아오도록 도울 것입니다.In the Old Testanent, giving God tithes and offerings wasn't simply about money. Gifts brought as a tithe were used to provide offerings of food at the temple. People were to eat part of an offering themselves and to share it with the Levites and the poor(Deuteronomy 14:22-29). Tithes and offerings were about sharing a meal with God and others ㅡ a way to build relationships and to share God's material blessings.구약 성경에서 하나님께 십일조와 헌물을 드리는 것은 단순히 돈에 관한 것이 아니었습니다. 십일조로 가져온 기부는 성전에서 음식의 제사용으로 사용되었습니다. 사람들은 제사의 일부를 자신들이 먹고 레위인과 가난한 자에게 그것을 나누어 주었습니다(신명기 14:22-29). 십일조와 헌물은 하나님과 다른 사람들과 함께 식탁에 참여하는 일에 관한 것이었습니다. 그것은 관계를 세우고 하나님의 물질적인 축복을 나누는 한 방법이었습니다.By telling the people to stop robbing him of tithes and offerings, God is asking them to come and share his table again. Sitting down for a meal together won't automatically set everything right, but it's a good start. It's a simple gesture indicating that God is still their Father and they are his children. It begins to restore the relationship between the people and the priests and Levites. People provide the food, and the priests and Levites teach and represent the presence of God. "I the Lord do not change. So you --- are not destroyed ... Return to me, and I will return to you." ㅡ Malachi 3:6-7"나 여호와는 변역지 아니하나니 그러므로 ---. 너희가 소멸되지 아니하느니라 ---. 그런즉 내게로 돌아오라 그리하면 나도 너희에게로 돌아 가리라." (말라기 3:6-7)From early times the Israelites had a tendency to turn away from God. But God always let them turn back. In one of Jesus' parables, a man's son shames his father and runs away. Eventually the son comes to his senses and returns, hoping for a small scrap of mercy. But the father is gracious and showers the son with love(see Luke 15:11-32). That is how Jesus describes our Father's relationship with his children.일찍부터 이스라엘 백성들은 하나님에게서 멀어지는 경향이 있었습니다. 그러나 하나님은 항상 그들을 다시 돌아오게 해 주셨습니다. 예수님의 비유 중 하나에서, 어떤 아들이 아버지를 부끄럽게 하고 집을 나갔습니다. 결국 아들은 아버지의 작은 자비에 희망을 걸고 정신을 차리고 돌아옵니다. 그러나 아버지는 은혜로우셔서 그 아들에게 사랑을 부어주십니다.(참조, 누가복음 15:11-32). 예수님은 우리 아버지와 자녀들과의 관계를 그렇게 묘사하십니다.We have limits to our patience and mercy. Occasionally I must appeal to my kids, "I don't have any patience left." If they keep going, I'm afraid my reaction won't be fair. But the patience and mercy of God, who rules the universe, never run out. If we commit the same sin a billion times and are truly sorry for it, he will keep forgiving.우리의 인내와 자비에는 한계가 있습니다. 종종 나는 내 아이들에게 호소해야 합니다. God wants us to look to him. We should not expect to be forgiven without wanting a relationship with God. His forgiveness is about building a relationship with us that will keep us close to him and far from hurting ourselves and others. The heart of God does not change on that point, and if we truly want a relationship with him, the Lord will always take us back.그렇다고 아무런 죄의 결과도 없다는 말은 아닙니다. 하나님은 우리가 그를 의지하기 원하십니다. 우리는 하나님과의관계를 원하지 않으면서 용서받기를 기대해서는 안됩니다. 그의 용서는 우리를 하나님과 가깝게 지켜줄 관계를 세우는 것이며, 우리 자신이나 다른이들을 해치는 것과는 무관한 것입니다. 하나님의 마음은 그 점에 있어서 변함이 없습니다. 만약 우리가 진정으로 그와의 관계를 원한다면, 주님은 언제나 우리를 되돌아 서게 해 주실 것입니다. On this day when the church commemorates Jesus' ascension to heaven, what is your relationship with the ascended King? 'I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify ---" ㅡ Malachi 3:5"내가 심판하러 너희에게 임할 것이라 내가 속히 증거하리라 ㅡㅡㅡ "(말라기 3:5) In Malachi 2:17 the people asked, "Where is the God of justice?" In today's verse God answers that question: the Lord is coming, but many who are asking will be on the wrong side of justice when he arrives. For them, God's justice will be an unwelcome surprise.말라기 2장 17절에서, 사람들은 "공의의 하나님이 어디에 계시냐?"고 물었습니다. 오늘 말씀에서, 하나님은 그 질문에 대답하십니다. 주님은 임하고 계시지만, 그가 오실 때, 질문하는 많은 사람들은 공의의 그릇된 편에 서 있게 될 것입니다. 그들에게 하나님의 공의는 달갑지 않은 놀라움이 될 것입니다.    I did not grow up as wealthy, popular, or influential as some others in my culture. That didn't always seem fair to me. But as an adult I've learned that the small bits of unfairness in my life are not nearly as devastating as the injustices occurring daily against others. 나는 내가 사는 사회의 다른 아이들과 같이 부유하고, 인기있고, 영향력 있는 사람으로 성장하지 않았습니다. 그러한 사실이 내게 항상 공평해 보인 것은 아니었습니다. 그러나 어른인 나는, 내 인생의 사소한 불공평한 것들은 다른 이들에게 날마다 일어나는 불의만큼 치명적인 것은 아니라는 사실을 배웠습니다.Things are rough everywhere. I've met wealthy people with severe depression; influential people with cancer; joyful people who have to find their food in other people's trash cans; hopeful people who have lost everything to a natural disaster; peaceful people who have left everything to escape war or persecution; loving people suffering from breken hearts. Some issues seem much worse than others. But this section in Malachi warns us not to assume that we have it so bad.  상황은 어디나 어렵습니다. 중한 우울증을 앓는 부유한 사람들; 영향력 큰 암 환자들; 다른 사람들의 쓰레기 통에서 음식을 찾아야만 하는 사람들; 자연 재해로 모든 것을 잃은 사람들; 전쟁이나 박해를 피하기 위해 모든 것을 떠난 사람들; 깨진 마음으로 고통받는사람들을 나는 만났습니다. 어떤 문제는 다른 문제보다 훨씬 더 나빠 보입니다. 그러나 말라기의 이 부분은 우리가 아주 나쁜 상황에 처한 것이라고 생각하지 말라고 경고합니다. We are all victims of injustice at some level, but we also perpetrate injustice toward others sometimes directly but often by participating in social systems that undervalue certain people or groups. Malachi reminds us to consider the advantages and blessings we've received before complaing about the injustices done to us.우리 모두는 어느 정도 불의의 희생자입니다. 그러나 어떤 사람들이나 집단을 무시하는 사회 제도에 참여함으로 때때로 직접적이거나 자주 우리 역시 타인에게 불의를 저지릅니다. 말라기는 우리가 당한 불의에 대해 불평하기 전에, 우리가 받은 혜택과 복을 생각해 보게 합니다.  PRAYER (기도)Father, each of us has received the breath of life from you and so much more. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the Lord. ㅡ Malachi 3:3-4그들이 의로운 제물을 나 여호와께 드릴 것이라. 그 때에 유다와 예루살렘의 헌물이 옛날과 고대와 같이 나 여호와께 기쁨이 되려니와 (말라기 3:3-4) Throughout Malachi's message, the people's lack of commitment has been a telltale sign of the distance between them and God. These verses predict that when the refiner comes, the people's hearts will return to God and their sacrifices will again please him.말라기의 메시지를 퉁해서, 사람들의 헌신이 부족한 것은 그들과 하나님 간의 거리를 나타내는 숨길 수 없는 표였습니다. 오늘 말씀은 정제하는 자가 임하면, 사람들의 마음은 하나님께로 돌아갈 것이며 그들의 제사는 다시 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 것이라 예상합니다. It is one of the great paradoxes of Christianity that we turn to God at the same moment that we realize how much we've offended him. This is a sign of the Holy Spirit's work. Rather than responding to God's chastisement with pride, defensiveness, or rebellion, we instead respond with humility, remorse, and rependance. We humbly ask for God's forgiveness and greatfully look forward to the bigginning of a relationship with Christ.우리가 얼마나 하나님을 거역했나를 깨달음과 동시에 하나님께로 돌아선다는 사실은 기독교의 위대한 역설 중 하나입니다. 이것은 성령의 역사하심의 표입니다. 하나님의 징계에 대하여 교만, 자기 방어 또는 반역으로 반응하기보다, 우리는 겸손, 후회 그리고 회개로 반응합니다. 우리는 겸손히 하나님의 용서를 구하고 그리스도와의 관계의 시작을 감사함으로 고대합니다. In all this we again see the Lord's amazing love for us. We stand before him admittedly guilty, without any defense or excuse, and deserving of whatever punishment God should choose. And God chooses not to punish us at all. We have learned our lesson that we need to be close to him who loves us most. And that's all he wants of us. No retribution, no paying back what we lost, stole, or broke, no making amends for all the grief we have caused. He simply forgives us. We find at that point that our "sacrifices" are transformed into offerings of gratityde from the heart.이 모든 것에 있어서, 우리를 위한 주님의 놀라운 사랑을 우리는 다시 보게 됩니다. 우리는 어떤 변명이나 핑게도 없이 하나님이 선택하셔야 하는 어떤 형벌도 마땅히 여기며, 유죄를 인정하며 하나님 앞에 섭니다. 그런데 하나님은 우리를 전혀 처벌하지 않기로 선택하십니다. 우리는 우리를 가장 많이 사랑하는 그 분께 가까이 가야 한다는 교훈을 얻었습니다. 그것이 그분이 우리에게 원하시는 전부입니다. 아무런 보복도 하지 않고, 우리가 잃은 것, 훔친 것, 망가뜨린 것을 되돌려 달라고도 하지 않으시며, 우리가 일으켰던 모든 슬픔에 대한 보상도 받지 않으십니다. 그는 단순히 우리를 용서하십니다. 우리는 그 시점에서 우리의 "희생"이 마음으로부터 감사의 제물로 변화되는 것을 발견하게 됩니다.PRAYER (기도)Dear Jesus, I have sinned in thought, word, and deed.
