"Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite --- as my wife ---" -Ruth 4:9-10 "내가 엘리멜렉과 기룐과 말론에게 있던 모든 것을 나오미의 손에서 산 일에 너희가 오늘 증인이 되었고 또 말론의 아내 모압 여인 룻을 사서 나의 아내로 맞이하고"(룻 4:9-10) Like the good Samaritan in Jesus' parable, Boaz goes out of his way to help. At Bethlehem's gate, where legal decisions are made, Boaz lets the closer relative know of Naomi's situation. The man is ready to do what is right. But when Boaz points out that Ruth is part of the package, the closer relative steps back; he does not want to endanger  his own estate. He knows that if Ruth has only one son by him, then that son, as his only heir, will inherit his property, but another family name will be on the deed. 예수님 비유의 선한 사마리아인처럼, 보아스는 돕기 위해 일부러 나갑니다. 법적 결정을 내리는 베들레헴 성문에서, 보아스는 더 가까운 친족에게 나오미의 상황을 알게 합니다. 그 사람은 바른 일을 행한 준비가 되어 있습니다. 그러나 룻도 그 일의 한 부분임을 보아스가 말하자, 더 가까운 친족인 그는 뒤로 물러섭니다. 그는 자신의 재산에 손해되는 일을 하고 싶지는 않았습니다. 만약 룻이 한 아들만을 낳게 된다면, 유일한 상속자인 그 아들은 그의 모든 재산을 상속 받게 될 것입니다. 다른 가족의 이름이 상속의 권리를 갖게 될 것입니다.    Boaz doesn't bat an eye. The elders and people at the gate witness Boaz's costly kindness. This good Israelite will keep his oath, even when it hurts: he will father a child for Mahlon in order to secure his property and name. Thus Boaz risks his own property and name. What generous humility; what a citizen of the kingdom of God.  보아스는 태연하게 있지 않았습니다. 성문의 장로들과 백성들이 보아스의 희생적 친절의 증인이 됩니다. 자신이 피해를 입을지라도, 이 선한 이스라엘인은 맹세를 지킬 것입니다. 그는 자신의 재산과 이름을 지키기 위하여 말론의 아이의 아버지가 될 것입니다. 그리하여 보아스는 자기 자신의 재산과 이름을 겁니다. 이는 참으로 관대한 겸손이었습니다. 이 얼마나 하나님 나라의 시민답습니까.  The good Israelite Jesus, born in Bethlehem, did not consider equality with God something to hold on to. So outside Jerusalem, in the presence of all the people and elders, he humbled himself and paid the highest price to fill the emptiness of all who yearn for a Redeemer. "Therefore God --- gave him the name that is above every name --- to the glory of God the father" (Philippians 2:9-11).베들레헴에서 태어난, 선한 이스라엘인 예수님은 자신을 하나님과 동일하게 여기지 않으셨습니다. 그래서 온 백성과 장로들이 보는데서, 예루살렘 성문 밖에서 자신을 낮추어 구속자를 고대하던 모든 이들의 공허함을 채우기 위하여 가장 큰 값을 지불하셨습니다. "이러므로 하나님이 --- 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 --- 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하셨느니라(빌 2:9-11)." Prayer (기도)Father God, may we confidently entrust our name and all our property to Jesus Christ, in whose name we have all that we need forever. "Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed." - Ruth 3:17"빈 손으로 네 시어머니에게 가지 말라." (룻 3:17)Naomi and her family had left Bethlehem because of famine, and she returned years later at the beginning of a harvest. Through Ruth, God  had begun to alleviate Naomi's food problems with regular visits to Boaz's fields, but Naomi was still bereft of her husband and sons. Who would fill that emptiness?나오미와 그 가족은 기근 때문에 베들레헴을 떠났습니다. 그리고 몇 년이 지난 후 추수 시작 때 귀향하였습니다. 룻을 통하여, 하나님은 보아스 밭을 정기적으로 찾아오심으로 나오미의 식량문제를 해결하기 시작하였습니다. 그러나 나오미는 여전히 남편과 자식이 없는 채로 남게 되었습니다. 누가 그 공허함을 채울 것입니까? When Ruth returned from the threshing floor, she poured out six measures of barley, telling Naomi that Boaz had said, "Don't go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed." Naomi was ecstatic, because she recognized that with this food Boaz had put a down payment on her family's future. 룻이 타작마당에서 돌아왔을 때, 그녀는 보리 여섯 되를 쏟아부으며 나오미에게 이렇게 말했습니다. 보아스가 말하길, "빈 손으로 네 시어머니에게 돌아가지 마라." 이 식물로 보아스가 나오미 가족의 미래에 대한 보증금으로 이 곡식을 보낸 것이라 생각하고서, 나오미는 황홀경에 빠졌습니다."Silver or gold I do not have," said the apostle Peter. "But what I do have I give you." And in Jesus' name he told a lame man to walk, and the man was able to walk-and to jump and to praise God too(Acts 3:6-10). In a similar way, Naomi was given renewed life. Ruth would bear a son. Naomi would have a family to take care of her - and through that family Israel would receive a king who would bring an end to the emptiness of the time of the judges.사도 베드로가 말했습니다. "은과 금은 내게 없거니와, 내게 있는 것으로 네게 주노니." 그는 예수님의 이름으로 절름발이에게 걸으라 명하였고, 그는 걷고 뛰며 하나님께 찬미할 수 있었습니다(행 3:6-10). 비슷한 방법으로, 나오미는 새 삶을 얻었습니다. 나오미는 자신을 돌보아 줄 가족을 얻게 되었습니다. 그 가계를 통하여 이스라엘은 사사시대의 공허함을 끝낼 왕을 얻게 되었습니다.  We too have received a down payment: "You were marked in [Christ] with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory"(Ephesians 1:13-14). 우리 역시 보증금을 받았습니다. "그 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀 곧 너희의 구원의 복음을 듣고 그 안에서 또한 믿어 약속의 성령으로 인치심을 받았으니, 이는 우리 기업의 보증이 되사 그 얻으신 것을 속량하시고 그의 영광을 찬송하게 하려 하심이라(엡 1:13-14)."Prayer (기도)Help us, Lord, to live faithfully by your Spirit's guidance as we look forward to the time when our redemption will be complete. "As surely as the Lord lives, I will do it."  - Ruth 3:13 - "여호와께서 살아계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 기업 무를 자의 책임을 네게 이행하리라." (룻 3:13)The word redeem means "to buy back." For Boaz this meant using his money to buy back a relative's land, and having a child with Ruth to preserve the family name of that relative. 리딤(redeem)이란 단어는 "다시 산다"는 뜻입니다. 보아스에게 이것은 친척의 땅을 다시 사기 위해 자신의 돈을 사용하며, 그 친척의 가계를 이어가기 위해 룻에게서 아이를 낳는다는 뜻입니다. Like Ruth, Boaz is a person of noble character. As Ruth clung to Naomi out of respect for her mother-in-law and for the Lord, Boaz clung to the Word of God, recognizing that all honor and praise belong to the Lord. Like one who meditates on the Word of God, he was "like a tree planted by streams of water" (Psalm 1:3). Well-rooted and -watered, that tree would not wither. From what we have seen of Boaz, we note that his words and deeds are so well-rooted and -watered that by the time Ruth speaks to him at the threshing floor, he will become the redeemer Naomi and Ruth need.      룻과 같이, 보아스는 존귀한 성품의 소유자입니다. 룻이 시어머니와 주께 대한 존경심에서 나오미를 따랐듯이, 모든 존귀와 찬양이 주께 속하였음을 인식하며, 보아스는 하나님의 말씀을 붙들었습니다. 하나님의 말씀을 묵상하는 자처럼, 그는 "시냇가에 심기운 나무"와 같았습니다(시 1:3). 뿌리를 잘 내리고 물을 잘 준 나무는 시들지 않습니다. 보아스에게서 본 사실로부터, 그의 언행이 뿌리를 잘 내리고 물을 잘 주어 룻이 타작마당에서 그에게 말할 때, 나오미와 룻에게 필요한 구속자가 될 것임을 우리는 주지하게 됩니다.    Boaz could have passed up this opportunity, for there was another redeemer. But he didn't. He went out of his way to make his intentions clear with a vow: "As surely as the Lord lives, I will do it." Someone who loves the Word of God does not make a vow lightly (Deuteronomy 23:21-23). 보아스는 이 기회를 양도할 수도 있었습니다. 왜냐하면 또 다른 구속자가 있었기 때문입니다. 그러나 그는 그리하지 않았습니다. 그는 이러한 맹세로 자신의 의사를 분명히 하였습니다. And God has kept his promise. Through Jesus we are redeemed from the debt of sin, if we believe in him as our Savior. Do you?천지의 하나님은 "우리에게 합당하니 거룩하고 악이 없고 더러움이 없고 죄인에게서 떠나 계시고 하늘보다 높이되신 이 (히 7:26) - 하나님 말씀 자신이신 예수 그리스도"를 우리에게 보내신다고 약속하셨습니다. 하나님은 그의 약속을 지키셨습니다. 우리가 우리 구주로 그를 믿으면, 예수님을 통하여 우리는 죄의 빚으로부터 구속받게 됩니다. 여러분은 믿으십니까?PRAYER (기도)For the costly price of our redemption through Christ's sacrifice, we thank you, Lord. Naomi said to her, "My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for." - Ruth 3:1 -나오미가 그에게 이르되, "내 딸아, 내가 너를 위하여 안식할 곳을 구하여 너를 복되게 하여야 하지 않겠느냐?" (룻 3:1)Ruth's decision to leave Moab has made her a wander, with no place to call home. She has put her time into helping Naomi by doing the tiring work of gleaning in the harvest fields of Boaz, who happens to be a relative of Naomi's deceased husband. The time is ripe for Naomi to find a home for Ruth and put an end to her wandering.  룻은 모압을 떠나고자 하는 결정을 내려서 고향이라 부를 곳이 없는 방랑자가 되었습니다. 그녀는 보아스의 추수밭에서 고된 이삭줍기를 하며 나오미를 돕는데 시간을 할애했습니다. 공교롭게도, 보아스는 나오미의 죽은 남편의 친척입니다. 나오미가 룻을 위한 가정을 찾아 그의 방황을 끝낼 시간이 무르익은 것입니다.  Boaz is a guardian-redeemer, someone who can buy back Elimelek's fields and so return prosperity to the family of Elimelek. Earlier Boaz had shown a willingness to help by instructing his workers to leave behind extra grain stalks for Ruth. Naomi, banking on Boaz as an honest and caring person, hopes he will further fulfill his obligation as a member of the extended family. Because she is childless and has no other sons for Ruth to marry, Naomi sees an opportunity in Boaz as her guardian redeemer. Through this righteous Israelite, Ruth will not only find rest from her own wandering but also keep alive the name of her husband's family. Naomi speaks, and Ruth follows her instructions. And Boaz does what he is called to do.    보아스는 엘리멜렉의 밭을 되사서 엘리멜렉의 가계에 번영을 되돌리는 사람인 기업 무를 자입니다. 앞서 보아스는 룻에게 곡식 다발에서 조금씩 뽑아 버리도록 자신의 일군들에게 지시하여 룻을 기꺼이 돕고자 했습니다. 보아스를 정직하고 배려깊은 사람으로 신용한 나오미는 그가 자신의 친척으로서 의무를 수행하리라 희망합니다. 그녀에게 자식이 없고 룻이 결혼하여 아들이 없었기 때문에, 나오미는 기업 무를 자인 보아스에게 있는 기회를 본 것입니다. 이 의로운 이스라엘 인을 통하여, 룻은 자신의 방황을 끝내고 쉴 곳을 찾았을 뿐 아니라 자신의 남편의 이름을 이어갈 수 있게 됩니다. 나오미는 말하고, 룻은 그녀의 지시를 따릅니다. 그리고 보아스는 그가 행하도록 부름받은 대로 행합니다.   When the time was right, God sent his only Son, who willingly became our Redeemer. He made this earth his home, suffered, and died for all who believe in him, so that we might be adopted into God's family and receive full rights as his children (Galatians 4:4-7). 때가 되었을 때, 하나님은 기꺼이 우리의 구속자가 되었던 자신의 독생자를 보내셨습니다. 그는 이 땅으로 그의 집을 삼고, 고통 당하고, 자신을 믿는 모든 자들을 위해 죽음 당하셨습니다. 그리하여 우리는 하나님의 가정에 양자가 되어, 하나님의 자녀가 되는 온전한 권세를 받았습니다(갈 4:4-7).   기도 (PRAYER)Thank you, heavenly Father, for brining us to our Redeemer to find our restful home in Christ, In his name we pray. "Pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don't rebuke her." -Ruth 2:16"또 그를 위하여 곡식 다발에서 조금씩 뽑아 버려서 그에게 줍게 하고 꾸짖지 말라 하니라."(룻 2:16) Righteous Israelites were scarce in the time of the judges, for people generally did as they pleased. What would the owner of the field where Ruth was gleaning be like? Would he be upright and honest, or would he take advantage of a poor foreign widow?  사람들이 대체로 자기 좋은대로 행하던 사사시대에 의로운 이스라엘 사람을 찾기란 힘들었습니다. 룻이 이삭을 줍던 밭 주인은 어떠했을까요? 그는 곧고 정직했을까요? 아니면 가난한 이방 과부를 착취했을까요? Boaz turns out to be righteousness: he respects his workers and acknowledges Ruth's kindness in staying with Naomi and gleaning grain for her. Further, Boaz tells his workers to go beyond the letter of the law as stated in God's Word; he gives willingly from his abundance without being asked to help Ruth and Naomi. Boaz also encourages Ruth to glean until the harvesting is finished. Boaz does what is right in God's eyes.     보아스는 의로운 사람이었습니다. 그는 자신의 일꾼들을 존중하고 나오미와 함께 머물며 그녀를 위해 이삭을 줍는 룻의 친절을 알아줍니다. 게다가, 보아스는 하나님의 말씀에 명시된 법조문을 넘어서 행하도록 일꾼들에게 명합니다. 그는 룻과 나오미를 돕기 위하여 요구하지도 않았는데 그의 풍부한 중에서 자원하여 내어줍니다. 보아스는 또한 추수가 끝날 때까지 룻에게 이삭을 주으라 격려합니다. 보아스는 하나님의 눈에 바르게 행합니다.Boaz and Ruth's righteousness proceeds from letting God's Word shape their lives. Righteous living is the key to a life of blessing for God's people.보아스와 룻의 의로움은 하나님의 말씀을 생활화하는데서 나옵니다. 의로운 삶은 하나님의 백성을 위한 복된 삶의 열쇠입니다.Jesus therefore tells his disciples to glean their "harvest" from among "the lost sheep of Israel"(Matthew 10:6), and Jesus himself brought his good news and healing to people outside Israel(Mark 7:24-37).그러므로 예수님은 제자들에게 "잃어버린 이스라엘 양떼" 가운데서 이삭 줍기 추수를 하라고 명하십니다(마 10:6). 그리고 예수님 자신도 이스라엘 밖의 이방인들에게 복음을 전하며 그들을 치유하셨습니다(막 7:24-37).Today we, who are Gentiles like Ruth, are also temples of the Holy Spirit(1 Corinthians 6:19) and instruments of righteousness(Romans 6:13). May each of us also let God's Word shape our lives. 오늘날 룻과 같은 이방인들인 우리는 또한 성령의 전(고전 6:19)이며 의의 도구입니다(롬 6:19). 아울러 우리 각자는 하나님의 말씀으로 우리의 삶을 빚어가야 합니다. PRYER (기도)Wherever our eyes look and our feet take us, Lord, let us be righteous neighbors by the power of your Spirit. Ruth went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. - Ruth 2:3 - 룻이 가서 베는 자를 따라 밭에서 이삭을 줍는데. (룻 2:3)Many of us can identify seemingly chance events that change the course of our future. Perhaps an unexpected encounter led you to meet your husband or wife, or a casual comment led you to the career you now have. Maybe a friendship developed because you and a stranger were placed in the same study group, or your faith grew stronger because of a book you picked up or a conversation you just happened to have.  우리 대다수는 우리의 미래의 항로를 바꾸는 우연한 사건들을 발견합니다. 아마도 기대하지 않던 마주침을 통해 여러분은 아내와 남편을 만났을 것입니다. 또한 우연한 한 충고로 인하여 여러분이 지금의 직업을 가겼을 수도 있습니다. 여러분과 낯선 한 사람이 같은 학습그룹에서 만나 우정으로 발전되었을 수 있고, 여러분이 집어든 한 권의 책이나 우연히 나눈 대화 때문에 여러분의 신앙이 강해졌을 수 있습니다.    God provides for our needs in many ways. In today's story God uses the provisions of Israelite law (Deuteronomy 24:19-21) and the generosity of a famer to feed Ruth and Naomi. Boaz treats Ruth as family, through she is at best a distant relative. Through Boaz, God's care for Naomi and Ruth takes on a name and a face.     하나님은 여러 방식으로 우리의 필요를 채우십니다. 오늘 말씀에서 하나님은 룻과 나오미에게 먹을 것을 주기 위하여 이스라엘의 법 조항(신 24:19-21)과 한 농부의 관대함을 사용하십니다. 룻이 기껏해야 먼 친척인데도 보아스는 그녀를 가족으로 대우합니다. 보아스를 통하여 나오미와 룻을 위한 하나님의 보살핌이 잘 알려지게 됩니다.    As God gives a harvest, we have the opportunity to share with people around us. But God does more than provide for physical needs. Through such encounters, God reminds us that Jesus came into our midst as a human being, a "near relative," to save us from sin. He gives rain and sunshine so that we might come to him for all that we need for life and godliness(2 Peter 1:3). 하나님이 추수를 주실 때 우리는 우리 주변의 사람들과 나눌 기회를 얻게 됩니다. 그러나 하나님은 육체적 필요를 채우시는 일 이상을 하십니다. 그러한 만남들을 통하여, 하나님이 우리를 죄에서 구원하시려고 "가까운 친척"인 사람의 모습으로 우리 가운데 오신 사실을 하나님은 우리에게 상기시키십니다. 그는 비와 햇빛을 주셔서 우리로 생명과 거룩에 필요한 모든 것들을 얻기 위하여 그에게 오도록 하십니다(벧후 1:3).   When provision comes in surprising ways, remember the great Giver who provides what we need for this life and for eternity.공급이 놀라운 방식으로 주어질 때, 이 생과 내 생을 위하여 우리에게 필요한 것을 공급하시는 큰 공급자를 기억하십시오. Gracious Father, not only do you provide for our needs, but you also reveal yourself as the provider! 은혜로운 아버지, 주께서 우리의 필요를 공급하실 뿐 아니라, 주님 자신이 공급자이심을 나타내십니다!PRAYER (기도)Open our eyes to the ways in which you are at work in Jesus for our salvation. Ruth --- Said --- "Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor."- Ruth 2:2모압여인 룻이 나오미에게 이르되, "원하건대 내가 밭으로 가서 내가 누구에게 은혜를 입으면 그를 따라서 이삭을 줍겠나이다." - 룻 2:2 When you don't have food, you search for it. Ruth is going to glean the fields to find leftover grain, and God is also at work not only to help her find leftovers but to give a harvest of blessing. 여러분에게 식량이 떨어지면 식량을 찾아 나서게 됩니다.룻은 밭에 나가서 떨어진 이삭을 주워 모으려 합니다. 그리고 하나님 또한 일하십니다. 룻이 떨어진 이삭들을 발견할 수 있게 도와 주실 뿐 아니라 축복을 거둘 수 있게 해주십니다. Boaz is a distant relative to Naomi and much more. God is about to use an ordinary person for his extraordinary purposes again. Through the kindness of Boaz, Ruth is allowed to glean until the harvest is finished. This journey is marked by the generosity and hospitality Boaz demonstrates in his work life and by the way he runs his farming business.   보아스는 나오미에게 먼 친척입니다. 그리고 매우 중요한 존재입니다. 하나님이 다시금 그의 특별한 목적들을 위해서 한 보통사람을 사용하고자 하십니다. 보아스의 친절을 통해서 룻은 추수가 끝날 때까지 이삭을 줍도록 허락을 받습니다. 이 일은 그의 일하는 생활 가운데서 보여주고, 또한 농사 일을 운영하는 방식에 드러나는 보아스의 관대함과 손 대접을 배경으로 해서 이루어집니다. Today many of us will return to work after a weekend. Whether we work at an office, job site, factory, school, or elsewhere, we will enter into the world of others as we get back to work. How we do our work will affect how others see the God we claim to serve.   오늘날 많은 사람이 주말을 보낸 다음에 일터로 복귀합니다. 사무실이든, 일터이든, 공장이든, 학교든, 다른 어느 곳에서든 우리가 일을 할 때 우리는 일에 복귀하면서 다른 사람들이 있는 세상으로 들어가게 됩니다. 거기에서 우리가 어떻게 일하느냐 하는 것은 다른 사람들로 하여금 우리가 섬긴다고 말하는 그 하나님을 어떻게 보도록 하느냐에 영향을 주게 됩니다.  Sadly, the praise that we give God on Sunday can be blemished by our worlds and actions on Monday. A hero of faith is called to be faithful every day of the week. A life of consistency of character is life that God can use to shape another person's life for eternity.슬프게도, 우리가 주일에 하나님에게 드리는 찬양은 월요일에 우리가 하는 말과 행동 때문에 얼룩이 집니다. 믿음의 영웅이란 한 주간의 매일에 충실한 사람입니다. 성품을 일관성 있게 보여주는 삶이 바로 다른 사람의 삶을 영원히 형성시켜주도록 하나님이 쓰실 수 있는 삶입니다.  God used Boaz and Ruth to eventually be the great-grandfather of King David. And this means that Ruth-an outsider- became part of the family line of Jesus. (See Ruth 4:18-22;  Matthew 1.) All this took place because God was at work.하나님은 보아스와 룻을 쓰셔서 마침내 다윗 왕의 증조 할아버지가 되게 하셨습니다. 이것은 외부 사람인 룻이 예수님의 족보의 일부가 되었음을 의미합니다(룻 4:18-22; 마 1장을 참조 바람). 이 모든 일이 하나님께서 일하고 계셨기 때문에 일어났습니다. Prayer (기도)Dear God, may I be a witness for you in all my words and deeds. And may I realize that you use events in time to affect eternity. In Jesus, Amen. 사랑의 하나님, 저의 모든 말과 행동 가운데서 제가 주님의 증인이 될 수 있게 해 주옵소서. 그리고 주님께서 시간 가운데 여러 사건들을 사용해서 영원에 영향을 주신다는 사실을 깨달을 수 있게 하여 주옵소서. 아멘. 

Naomi returned from Moab --- arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning. - Ruth 1:22 -나오미가 모압 지방에서 돌아왔는데 --- 보리 추수 시작할 때에 베들레헴에 이르렀더라(룻 1:22)Around the world today, tens of thousands of people live as refugees, foreigners in a country not their own. They often face a difficult life, cut off from familiar people and places and dependent on others for daily provisions.오늘날 세상에는, 수많은 사람들이 자신들의 나라가 아닌 곳에서 난민이나 외국인으로 살고 있습니다. 그들은 친밀한 사람들과 장소로부터 떨어져서 매일의 양식을 얻기 위해 타인들에게 의존하며 어려운 삶에 직면합니다.Naomi and Ruth were in the land of Israel in search of a new life. As outsiders and widows, they were doubly vulnerable by the standards of the day. The beginning of their story is filled with heartache and sorrow. Having lost husbands and homes, how would they provide for themselves?나오미와 룻은 새 삶을 찾으러 이스라엘 땅을 찾아왔습니다. 외인이며 과부인 그들은 당시 삶의 기준으로 볼 때 두가지 약점을 지니고 있었습니다. 그들의 이야기는 쓰라린 가슴과 슬픔으로 가득차 있습니다. 남편들과 가정을 잃었으니, 어떻게 스스로 먹을 것을 구하겠습니까?  But God had arranged to take care of all that. His plan for their lives was being worked out. Though Naomi saw only God's hand of misfortune at this point, the first hopeful note in the book observes that she and Ruth came to Bethlehem at the start of the barley harvest. This is significant because it recalls that God had arranged to bless vulnerable people through the generosity of farmers who had more than enough.  그러나 하나님은 그 모든 것을 보살피기 위하여 준비하셨습니다. 그들의 삶에 대한 하나님의 계획은 잘 진행되어지고 있었습니다. 비록 나오미는 이 시점에서 불운을 주시는 하나님의 손만을 보았지만, 그녀와 룻이 보리 추수 시작때에 베들레헴에 이르렀다는 사실에서 우리는 이 책의 첫 희망의 메모를 보게 됩니다. 하나님께서 충분한 소유를 지닌 농부들의 관대함을 통하여 약자들을 복 주시려 준비하셨다는 사실을 상기시키기에 이 사실은 중요합니다.Naomi and Ruth may not have realized it, but God was at work already to arrange their arrival at just the time when he had provided the resources to show his care for them. "The Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty." - Ruth 1:20-21"전능자가 나를 심히 괴롭게 하셨음이니라. 내가 풍족하게 나갔더니 여호와께서 내게 비어 돌아오게 하셨느니라." (룻기 1:19-21) The women of Bethlehem can't believe this Naomi. "You're right," she implies; "call me Bitter; Naomi is no more. And whom do I blame? The Almighty has done this. The Lord has afflicted me." Four times Naomi complains against God, as if to say, "When is God going to do something about my problems.?"  베들레헴 여인들은 이 여인이 나오미임을 믿을 수 없었습니다. "여러분이 맞습니다." 나오미가 말하는 뜻은 다음과 같은 것입니다. "저를 쓴 여인이라 부르시오. 더 이상 나오미가 아니에요. 제가 누굴 탓하겠어요. 이 모든 건 전능자가 하신 일입니다. 주께서 절 괴롭게 하셨네요." 네 번에 걸쳐 나오미는 하나님께 불평합니다. 마치 "하나님은 제 문제에 대해 언제 관심을 보이실 건가요?"라고 말하는 듯 합니다.   Generations of oppressed Israelite fathers and mothers cried to the Lord in Egypt before he sent Moses to deliver them. How many children did Pharaoh drown? How could God allow that? Why didn't he do something sooner? (See Exodus 1-2) How long do people have to wait?  박해받던 이스라엘 조상 세대는 하나님이 그들을 구원하러 모세를 보내기 전에 이집트에서 부르짖었습니다. 바로가 얼마나 많은 어린이들을 익사시켰습니까? 하나님이 어떻게 그런 일을 허용하실 수 있나요? 하나님은 어떻게 하여 보다 빨리 조치를 취하지 않으셨나요? (참조, 출 1-2장) 백성들은 언제까지 기다려야 하나요?It's ironic that even as Naomi charges God with emptying her life, the one in whom God is working to refill her is standing right beside her. But Ruth remains silent. Later, with Naomi's permission, she will go out to gather food and marry Boaz. Ruth and Boaz will rescue Naomi by obedience to God's instructions in his Word.   나오미가 자신의 삶을 텅 비게 하였다고 하나님을 비꼴 때조차, 그녀의 삶을 재충전시키기 위해 하나님이 역사하고 계셨던 바로 그 사람이 그녀 곁에 서 있다는 사실은 아이러니입니다. 그러나 룻은 조용히 있습니다. 후에, 나오미의 허락 하에 그녀는 음식을 구하러 나가 보아스와 혼인하게 됩니다. 룻과 보아스는 말씀에 나타난 하나님의 지시를 따름으로 나오미를 구원할 것입니다.When emptiness engulfs God's people, or when the stream of God's blessing in your life slows to a trickle for whatever reason, there's only one remedy: cry out to God for help.  하나님의 백성이 텅빈 삶에 빠졌을 때, 혹은 무슨 이유에서인지 하나님의 축복이 눈곱만큼으로 줄어들 때, 오직 한가지 해결책만이 있습니다. 하나님의 도움을 구하며 부르짖으십시오.God is with us today too, through the Word, Jesus Christ. "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." - Ruth 1:16 -"어머니께서 가시는 곳에 나도 가고 어머니께서 머무시는 곳에서 나도 머물겠나이다. 어머니의 백성이 나의 백성이 되고 어머니의 하나님이 나의 하나님이 되시리니--- " 룻기 1:16Naomi has urged her two daughters-in-law to return to their homes. In the middle of a circle of tears. Orpah says good bye and turns toward home. At the same time, Ruth clings to Naomi and refuses to turn away, promising to go where Naomi goes and to trust in her God.나오미는 두 며느리에게 각기 그들의 고향으로 돌아가라고 권했습니다. 서로 눈물을 흘리다가 오르바가 작별을 고하고 고향을 향해 떠나갑니다. 그런데 같은 시간에 룻은 나오미에게 매달려 떠나가기를 거절하고 나오미가 가는 곳이면 어디든 가고 나오미의 하나님을 신뢰하겠다고 약속합니다.People in sorrow and loss sometimes just want to be alone. They may even have a view that everyone would be better off if they just were not around. But isolation can be a tool of Satan that leads to even more trouble and sorrow.때때로 슬픔과 상실 가운데 있는 이들은 그저 홀로 있고 싶어 합니다. 그런 이들은 만일 자기 주위에 있는 사람들이 자기 주위에서 떠나기만 한다면 그 사람들이 더 나아질 것이라고 보기까지 합니다. 그러나 고립은 사탄의 도구로서 더욱 큰 곤란과 슬픔으로 이끕니다.Naomi is wrestling with God, but she will not wrestle alone. God doesn't mean for the journey of faith to be a solitary walk. Even Jesus wanted his disciples with him when he struggled in the garden of Gethsemane(Mark 14:32-34).나오미는 하나님과 씨름하고 있습니다. 그렇지만 홀로 씨름하지 않을 것입니다. 하나님은 믿음의 길이 고독한 발걸음이 되는 것을 원치 않으십니다. 심지어 예수님도 겟세마네 동산에서 갈등하실 때에 자기의 제자들이 함께 있기를 원하셨습니다(마가 14:32-34).As Naomi returns home, she says to others, "I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty." Sorrow and loss can distort our view of the world and even our view of God. Naomi is not really returning empty.나오미는 집으로 되돌아 와서, 다른 사람들에게 이렇게 말합니다. "내가 풍족하게 나갔더니 여호와께서 내게 비어 돌아오게 하셨느니라." 슬픔과 상실은 세상에 대한 우리의 견해를 왜곡시킬 수 있으며, 심지어 하나님에 대한 우리의 견해까지도 뒤틀 수 있습니다. 나오미는 사실 빈털터리가 되어 되돌아온 것은 아니었습니다.The harvest time is just beginning, and God has given Naomi a gift in calling  Ruth to stand by her side. In the midst of loss, God provides Naomi a family.추수 때가 이제 막 시작되고 있습니다. 하나님이 룻을 불러서 나오미 곁에 서 있게 하심으로써 나오미에게 선물을 주셨습니다. 상실 가운데서 하나님은 나오미에게 가족을 제공하십니다.  PRAY (기도)Dear God, help me to see today anyone who needs me to stand by their side. May you move me from my comfort zone to be of comfort to another. May the Comforter direct me, I pray. Naomi said --- "Go back, each of you --- May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness --- "(Ruth 1:8)나오미가 --- 이르되, "너희는 각기 너희 어머니의 집으로 돌아가라 --- 너희가 나를 선대한 것 같이 여호와께서 너희를 선대하시기를 원하며 ---"(룻기 1:8)Because of a famine, Naomi left home with her husband and two sons in search of food and a better future. But then Naomi's husband died. Her two sons married, but they also died.기근 때문에 나오미는 먹을 것과 더 나은 미래를 향해서 자기 남편 및 두 아들과 함께 고향을 떠났습니다. 그러나 그런 중에 나오미의 남편이 죽었습니다. 그녀의 두 아들도 결혼했지만 그들도 죽었습니다. When the famine ended back home in Israel, Naomi returned, but she told people not to call her Naomi anymore. "Call me Mara," she said, which means "bitter." 이스라엘에 있는 고향에서 기근이 그쳤을 때 나오미는 고향으로 되돌아 왔습니다. 그렇지만 나오미는 사람들에게 자기를 더이상 나오미라 부르지 말라고 부탁했습니다. "나를 마라라 부르시오" 라고 말했습니다. '마라'라는 말은 '쓰라림'이라는 뜻입니다.Yet in the midst of her troubles, Naomi still found the faith to wrestle with God and ask him to bless her daughters-in-law. 그렇지만 그 곤고한 중에도 여전히 나오미는 하나님을 하나님을 붙잡고 하나님께 자기의 며느리를 축복해 달라고 간구할 믿음을 발견했습니다.Can a person in trouble still be a blessing to others? Absolutely. I have seen people in times of trouble deepen their faith by aiming to continue to help others. I have seen people's faith strengthened when they moved from focusing on their own concerns to giving of themselves to others, for Jesus' sake.  곤고한 중에 있는 사람이 다른 사람들에게 복이 될 수 있습니까? 당연히 그럴수 있습니다. 나는 어려움 중에 있는 사람들이 계속해서 다른 사람들을 돕겠다는 목표를 세움으로써 그들의 믿음을 깊게 하는 것을 보았습니다. 나는 사람들이 자신들의 문제에만 초점을 맞추지 않고 예수님을 위해서 다른 사람들에게 베푸는 일에 초점을 맞춤으로써 그들의 믿음이 더 강화되는 것을 보았습니다.   Today you may find yourself questioning God and even wrestling with him. In this kind of struggle, I invite you to hear Naomi's trust in God and her blessing of others. She knew that her daughters-in law had suffered as well. She did not add to their suffering. In the midst of a tearful separation, she prayed for them. Naomi was on a journey of faith, one in which her tears accompanied her walk with God.오늘 여러분이 하나님에게 의문을 던지고 심지어 하나님을 붙잡고 씨름하고 계실 수도 있습니다. 이런 갈등 가운데서 나는 여러분에게 하나님에 대한 나오미의 신뢰와 다른 사람들에 대한 그녀의 축복을 경청해 볼 것을 초대합니다. 나오미는 자기의 며느리들이 그녀와 함께 고난을 당했음을 알고 있엇습니다. 그녀는 그 며느리들에게 고난을 더 얹지 않았습니다. 눈물의 작별 와중에, 나오미는 며느리들을 위해서 기도했습니다. 나오미는 믿음의 길을 갔습니다. 그 길은 그녀가 눈물을 흘리면서 하나님께 동행해 나가는 길이었습니다. PRAY (기도)Dear God, today some of us are really struggling. Elimelek, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons --- Both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. Ruth 1:3,5나오미의 남편 엘리멜렉이 죽고 나오미와 그의 두 아들이 남았으며 --- 말론과 기룐 두 사람이 다 죽고 그 여인은 두 아들과 남편의 뒤에 남았더라.(룻 1:3-5) The land was dead, and so was Naomi's family. Did Elimelek die because he left the promised land? Did Naomi's sons die because they married foreigners? Was Naomi suffering because of her family's actions? 그 땅은 죽었고, 나오미의 가족도 죽었습니다. 엘리멜렉은 약속의 땅을 떠나서 죽은 건가요? 나오미의 아들들은 이방 여인들과 결혼했기 때문에 죽은 건가요? 그녀의 가족들의 행위때문에 나오미는 고통을 받은 겁니까? Let's consider the bigger picture. Later in Israel, the Lord announced a great famine as punishment for the nation's wickedness, but among them were 7,000 people who had remained faithful(1 Kings 19:18). Proverbs 29:2 says that "when the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan."  더 큰 그림을 살펴봅시다. 하나님께서 국가적 악행에 대한 벌로 이스라엘에 큰 기근을 주셨습니다. 그러나 주께 신실한 7,000명이 그들 가운데 남아 있었습니다(왕상 19:18). 잠언 29:2은 "의인이 많아지면 백성이 즐거워하고 악인이 권세를 잡으면 백성이 탄식하느니라"고 기록하고 있습니다. Everyone, whether guilty or innocent, suffered the costs of disobedience in the days when the judges ruled. And in the world today, many innocents ㅡ Christians and many others ㅡ suffer from all kinds of deadly diseases, natural disasters, selfish rulers, and terror attacks.유죄건, 무죄건 간에, 사사들이 통치하던 시대에 모든 사람들은 불순종의 피해를 입었습니다. 오늘날 세상에서도, 기독교인들과 많은 다른 이들을 포함한 많은 무고한 사람들이 모든 종류의 치명적인 질병, 자연재해, 이기적인 통치자와 테러 공격 등으로 고통을 받고 있습니다.   In times of great wickedness when many innocents suffer what the wicked deserve, what can you do? Wise people know that "the eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good"(Proverbs 15:3). But how long can you wait for God to do something?많은 무고한 사람들이 악인들이 받아야 마땅한 고통을 받는 악이 만연한 때에, 여러분이 할 수 있는 일이 무엇입니까? 지혜로운 사람들은 "여호와의 눈은 어디서든지 악인과 선인을 감찰하시느니라"라는 사실을 압니다(잠 15:3). 그러나 하나님께서 무언가 행사하시기를 여러분은 얼마나 오래 기다릴 수 있습니까? When Jesus cried out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mark 15:34), he bore the judgement meant for the wicked. A man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab - Ruth 1:1유다 베들레헴에 한 사람이 그의 아내와 두 아들을 데리고 모압 지방에 가서 거류하였는데 (룻 1:1)In Bethlehem, which means "house of bread," cupboards were bare. So, like Abraham, who left the promised land to escape a famine (Gen. 12:10-20), Elimelek moved his family to another land. They migrated to Moab. But before long, Elimelek died, and then his two sons, who had married, died also - leaving Naomi and her Moabite daughters-in-law with no support."빵 집"을 의미하는 베들레헴의 찬장이 비었습니다. 기근을 피하여 약속의 땅을 떠났던 아브라함처럼(창 12:10-20), 엘리멜렉 가족도 외지로 이주하였습니다. 그러나 엘리멜렉은 죽고, 오래지 않아 장가 든 두 아들도 죽게 됩니다. 그리고 아무 의지할 데 없는 나오미와 모압 여인인 두 며느리들만 남게 되었습니다.   What would the God of Elimelek - whose name means "My God is King" - do about this grief and hunger? In the future, Bethlehem of Judah would provide Israel with a good and faithful king, David. But in the time of the judges, when everyone did what was right in their own eyes, there was no king in Judah.  그 이름의 뜻이 "나의 하나님은 왕"인 엘리멜렉의 하나님은 이러한 슬픔과 배고픔에 대하여 무엇을 하셨습니까? 훗날, 유다 베들레헴은 이스라엘에게 선하고 신실한 왕, 다윗을 냅니다. 그러나 모든 사람이 자기 눈에 좋은대로 행하였던 사사시대에, 유다에는 왕이 없었습니다.Still, God's people had the Lord as their King, who had been providing them with everything, and he was faithful in blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). But if Israel turned its back on him, God would also be faithful in punishment (Deuteronomy 28:15-24). That's why Bethlehem was empty and Naomi was living far from home, now alone without a husband or sons to provide for her. 하나님의 백성들에게는, 그들에게 모든 것을 제공하셨고 복 주시기에 신실하셨던 그들의 왕인 주님이 계셨습니다(신 28:1-14). 그러나 이스라엘이 그 분께 등을 돌렸다면, 하나님 또한 벌 주심에 신실하셨을 것입니다(신 28:15-24). 그것이 베들레헴이 텅 비고 나오미가 멀리 타향에서 살고 있었던 이유요, 이제는 자신의 삶을 위해 공급해 줄 남편이나 아들도 없이 홀로 된 이유인 것입니다. What would happen to Naomi? All God's people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household. Philippians 4:22모든 성도들이 너희에게 문안하되 특히 가이사의 집 사람들 중 몇이니라. (빌 4:21-23)Ron, a successful businessman, never invited any of his other friends to our church. I'm pretty sure we would have embarrassed him. Of all of us, Ron was the most sophisticated. But he loved being at Andy's house and getting his face sticky with chicken wings. And he connected well with other church friends. But maybe his high class friends in the business world would not have understood. In the early church too, social worlds collided. In today's verses, we see that Christ called people from different levels of wealth and freedom into the church. That can be difficult and challenging.
