"Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!" - James 2:12-13

"너희는 자유의 율법대로 심판받을 자처럼 말도 하고 행하기도 하라 긍휼을 행하지 아니하는 자에게는 긍휼없는 심판이 있으리라 긍휼은 심판을 이기고 자랑하느니라." (약 2:12-13)

"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."

 - Isaiah 1:18

"너희의 죄가 주홍같을지라도 눈과 같이 희어질 것이요 진홍같이 붉을지라도 양털같이 희게 되리라." (사 1:18)

Little Mary came crying to her mother: "Johnny splashed mud on my white dress again!" Mom scolded the little brother, saying, "Johnny, why did you do that?" He argued, Mom, it's only a few tiny spots this time; it's not a big deal." Mom said, "Whether it has a few spots or a big stain, Mary's white dress is changed completely. It's not white any more."

어린 마리아는 그녀의 어머니에게 울며 왔습니다. "쟈니가 내 흰 옷에 또 진흙을 튀겼어!" 엄미는 이렇게 말하며 어린 남동생을 나무랐습니다. "쟈니, 왜 그랫어?" 그는 논박하며 말했습니다. "엄마 이번에 아주 적은 자국들 몇 개 뿐이쟎아. 뭐가 큰 일이라구." 엄마는 말했습니다. "자국이 몇 개 안되건, 크건 작건 간에, 마리아의 흰 옷은 완전히 버렸어. 옷이 이제 희지 않잖아." 

Often we are like Johnny; we try to trivialize our wrongdoing. We even project our thinking onto God. James wrote about showing favoritism to certain people while ignoring or putting down others. It's easy to think that favoritism is no big deal and that many other sins are more serious or offensive to God. But James pointed out that even one sin makes us guilty. I once heard this memorable saying from an old preacher: "No sin is too heavy for Christ to bear, and no sin is too light for Christ to spare." Committing one sin is already too many!

종종 우리는 쟈니와 같습니다. 우리는 우리의 잘못을 사소하게 여기려 합니다. 우리는 우리의 생각을 하나님께 투영하기까지 합니다. 야고보는 다른 이들을 무시하거나 낮추는 반면, 어떤 사람에게 편애를 보이는 것에 관하여 기록했습니다. 편애는 대수롭지 않고 많은 다른 죄들이 하나님께 더 중하고 모욕적이라고 생각하기 쉽습니다. 그러나 야고보는 한 가지 죄가 우리를 유죄로 만들 수 있음을 지적했습니다. 나는 전에 한 연세 드신 설교자로부터 이 잊을 수 없는 명언을 들었습니다. "어떤 죄도 그리스도가 지지 못하실 정도로 무겁지 않고, 어떤 죄도 그리스도가 눈 감아 줄 정도로 가볍지 않다." 한가지 죄를 저지른 것은 이미 많은 죄를 저지른 것입니다!  

How then can we be saved? Is there any hope? Yes! Our salvation is secured by the sacrificial death of our Lord Jesus Christ(1 John 2:1-2). He shed his blood to pay the price for all of our sins, whether they are big or small in our human eyes.  

그렇다면 어찌 구원을 받을 수 있습니까? 희망이 있나요? 그렇습니다! 우리의 구원은 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 희생적 죽음에 의하여 보장됩니다(요일 2:1-2). 인간의 눈에 죄가 크든지 적든지 간에 그는 우리 모든 죄를 위한 값을 지불하기 위하여 피를 흘리셨습니다.  

Have you experienced that salvation and forgiveness that come only through Christ?

Thank you, Jesus, for paying the debt of all our sins. Help us to live worthy of your sacrifice. In your name we pray. Amen.

예수님, 우리 모든 죄의 빚을 청산해 주심에 감사드립니다. 주의 희생에 합당한 삶을 살게 도와주시옵소서. 주의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘
